New U.S. Rail Security Alert Tied to bin Laden Raid: Join the Live Chat

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a notice to law enforcement about a potential al Qaeda plot to target the U.S. on the upcoming 10th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. The alert comes after information was obtained in the raid on bin Laden's compound in Pakistan. Plus, new video from the night bin Laden was killed, showing the three-story building on fire. The video was shot by a neighbor.

Anderson, you conducted a good interview with Rice. I can hardly contain myself for the conclusion ending of that interview.

I don't believe we should see photos. That's a bit over the top. I don't even agree with the fake photos being shown. It's too graphic.

Bin Laden was a secretive person who kept telephone numbers and 500 euros stitched into his clothes. It is only reasonable to suspect that he keep secret hiding places for his sensitive and revealing documents in the event that America might drop in. In the minutes they were there it is doubtful the Seals would have uncovered such hidden spots. The compound was built especially for him from the ground up. thinking about it it only seems reasonable that he would have designed in something hidden and private and hard to find. That, not on the computers and drives lying around in open view, is where the real intelligence information must be. Don't you think?

Remember years ago in the news that Osama was living in Pakistan in the city among people and the Pakistan Goverment came out and denied it.

for all anyone knows, the government is releasing controlled contradictory information in order to identify and stop leaks – if they are operating at seal level i would kind of expect this is what they are doing

It is great to see that NY firefighter, police and the family of 9/11 put aside their politics to honor that day. I really wish democrats and republicans could do the same. Bush started the job and Obama finished period. Bush had his day in september 9/11 rallying the american people, Obama has his day comforting the american people. If people chose to make a big deal about this, I feel sorry for their soul. It is sad to see people who hate Bush and Obama cannot find a way to honor both presidents. It is very sad indeed.

I find it very unusual that Pakistan was unaware of OBL's presence in their country.

It's odd that Osama bin Laden was able to live a comfortable life at the Compound for so long. I find it difficult to be too critical of the Seals actions–even if the details have been somewhat unclear.

Curious, we have been searching for OBL for 10 years and now when we find and kill him, there is so much controversy. The seals did what they were trained to do. Give them due credit

They should have waited until they had digested the captured material before announcing bin Laden was dead. that way they could have acted and caught other Al Queda by surprise. Now they are warned, and will leave there current locations for fear of compromise. Bad tactics by the Administration.

I agree with that, but I think they were in a hurry to announce it so the story would take the heat off Obama for his mishandling of the uprisings in the Middle East and Africa.

Why do we even care whether Bin Laden was armed or not? This is a war!! Had things been different had Hitler been armed? This man deserved to die Armed or unarmed. Period!! Stop the questioning of what IS RIGHT here!! In order to cure cancer you MUST cut it out before it spreads!!

It's no wonder OBL was always in a bad mood. Am I wrong or is the house just a piece of crap? How ever can it
Cost million bucks. Maybe it's in Rupee's or something. They lived like the pigs they were.

At least we have intelligence about the possibilities now. More than what we had before. I'm sure there will be some sort of retalliation from the taliban resulting from the death of Bin-Laden. Possibly even sooner than after the 10-year anniversary of 9/11. I do however believe that the talibans statagies will be focused on other targets not listed on a hard-drive recovered from the compound. I believe that the evil forces are not as powerful, as before 9/11. But we can't let our gaurd down, and we can't let it influence us as American citizens. Also remember, as President Obama said, "We are not at war with Islam, but we are at war with the terrorist radical taliban forces.

OBL was an enemy combatant, and a perfectly legal kill. The Seals are heroes.

If OBL was in a floor above of one of the workers that was killed would be possible that OBL did have a chance to wake up and get a gun before Seals enter his room after all??

I wondered about this as well. How could there be all the noise outside and inside, particularly the gun shots, before they reach bin Laden and then find him unarmed. Very strange.

Maids? Living comfortably for 5 to 6 years? The compound was a hell hole. Never mind that it was raided a few days ago by an elite US Military team, it was dirty, construction incomplete, and in complete disarray and lacking most modern conveniences especially considering more than 2 dozen people lived in the house (including children). Something is very strange about the condition of the interior of this residence.

Hi Anderson, I have watched your news shows for a long time. You do an awesome job in keeping them honest. I just wanted to point out that the secret helicopter used in the operation to get Osama, Looks very much like the Comanche helicopter, that military cancelled funding on. Thank you.

    May 5, 2011 at 10:22 pm |
    • Chris M.

It very well could have been there for cover, but the Comanche is not a personnel carrier. It is an attack helicopter. It carries 2 people at most, not 12 SEALs a pilot and co pilot.

This guy, Bin Ladin, did not have a phone, nor a computer. He was totally isolated from the outside world and under the control of ISI. Now they are telling us all these stories that are hard to swallow. He planned attacks on the 10th. anniversary of 9/11. My question is: how do we, the public, can verify all this nonsense the press is giving us? Where are they getting all this information? Personally, I think they are just giving us a "feel good" reporting to justify this assassination.

Did you miss the part about the 5 computers, thumb drives, DVDs, and CD-ROMs, they found? He was not without ways to communicate. That's what his couriers were for.

It was said that there was a fiber optic cable ran directly to the property. Thats faster internet than you and I would ever have. This would compare to a server head-end speed. Also there is the possibility of wireless service. I recieve many signals from unsecure personal networks I could tap into for their services if I really need to. Also cellular service, and there was the description of a satellite dish on the displays of the compound. I'm sure he probably had his connections.

"Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahiri, are living comfortably in northwest Pakistan under the protection of members of the nation's intelligence service, a top NATO official has reportedly told CNN." This was reported in the Christian Science Monitor article in October 2010. Pakistan signed a cease fire accord with the Taliban and gave them Swat Valley as sanctuary in 2009, which is around 100 miles from where OBL was found??? Why aren't we talking about this, too? Why are we acting like OBL in Pakistan is being told for the first time?

The discussion tonight about how the President did and if or if not he connected smacks more of a political discussion. It really defeats the purpose of the visit.

what would be the difference if we had sent a missell in? It was dark and no one could know that the other courier, his son or bin laden were either armed or not I mean come on, night vision, weapons all over the house, his son rushing them on the stairs, bin laden moving towards weaposn...

that is about as "it might snow this winter.

As an Arab American, I was wondering why no one has questioned the importance of capturing Bin Laden alive to interrogate him which is vital to prevent future attacks. since he has a network of people and has lived in the same place for five years and has had contact with his group and could have been planning future attacks. I do not like the idea that the plan was just to kill him without even interrogating him!???!!!!

Considering Khalid Shaykh Mohammad was waterboarded 183 times and did not reveal anything, I highly doubt they thought OBL would reveal anything either.

He made the choice not to raise his hands and instead make movement in the direction of weapons. Considering potential weapons, explosive vests etc. he may have had they took the choice he gave them.

Sooo. anyone surprised? The ineptitude & serial lies surrounding the OBL assassination are doubtless impacting radical Islamiists worldwide. Am sure this is not what Obama wanted. but this + shamefully crass US response makes it all too easy to fear a Waco-like fallout.
