New Photos from Inside Osama bin Laden's Compound: Join the Live Chat

There are new photos from inside Osama bin Laden's compound showing the bloody scene. And there are snapshots from the yard showing pieces of the damaged U.S. Navy helicopter. Could it be our first look at a new kind of military technology – a new kind of Black Hawk? We'll dig into that and more.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

When Wikileaks leaked secret documents, liberal cheered saying they had the right to know. Why not now?

Very good point. Some just have to be partisan regardless of the situation.

I am proud of our Navy Seal's, and our President. Why is some people making a big deal about how Bin Laden died? What about our american citizen who died on 9/11? They died jumping out of windows! Some of our children died there too, and their worried about his 12 years old daughter? Call me cold, but lets count the ways.

So the question is will the photo shut up people up? Well, did the birth certificate! Questioning the president is a everyday occurence! I don't think there is such thing as proof you going to accept it or not. Especially since history shows the truth can be written to favor the writer. And remember when legend become fact they print the legend. Especially when this is a potical game for the Republicans. if it was good oh BUSH who captured and Killed Bin Lauden they would be signing praise from the highest mountain and remember questioning the president is also question our solider the Americans love to claim to support!

You also have to remember that we use different names for floors than the rest of the world. What is OUR second floor, is Europe's FIRST floor. Our first floor, is Europe's ground floor. This might also be how it is done in the Middle East.

It was the middle of the night, dark (our guys had night vision eq.) and an incredible amount of excitement and fear going on so how could she see what was going on for sure. Any interviews of the survivors will be manipulated for propaganda against us we can be sure of that.

Some 200 government officials have seen these photos.

These official are not the keepers of the people.

They've no right to decide what adult Americans can or cannot handle. The people are not children, nothing in the Constitution gives government officials the right to police adult sensibilities. It is elitist censorship of the first magnitude.

Like a school banning a book, they are forcing their morality upon us. Bin Laden was a global problem figure. The U.S. has no right to withhold this illustrative information from the eyes of the world.

    May 4, 2011 at 10:49 pm |
    • kaytee

What? Like someone on here already posted, these pics were not taken by journalist, but by the military. And yes they can put things like that in a classified category. They can declassify them years later. It has been done and I hope that is the way they do these pictures.

This is so special!! You are so Right! No one has the right to tell you what you can and cannot see. The President rather you like it or not he is our President has the right to do what is best for AMERICA in the name of National Security PERIOD!

I'm sure the same people who demanded to see the birth cert are the same ones who want t see the photo of OBL. And they will probably come up with even more doubts if they saw the photos, just like they did with the birth cert. Some people will never believe no matter what.
If he is dead, don't worry, he will pop up soon.

Al Queda videotaped the beheading of an unarmed American Journalist. They have distributed pictures of dead and decaying Americans and allies to the world. They have killed numerous Americans and did not afford them a proper burial. They have hanged people in the street and left them to rot in the sun as an example to the rest of the community. I think the Arab world needs to see the pictures as well as Americans.
I think bin Laden's body should have been cremated and scattered in Israel.

Bin Laden has about 50 children, what does that mean to use? Do they hate america more now? Should we be worried?

This might be a dumb question but are there any pictures of Adolf Hitler's death? If there isn't, do you think Americans back then asked or proof? Or did they just believe President Roosevelt when he told them. At what point did we become such a skeptical country?

    May 4, 2011 at 10:43 pm |
    • MaryBeth

Yes, there is a picture of Hitler after he killed himself. And that's even been questioned.

Well, considering the fact there are people out there who deny the Holocaust happened, I don't believe any evidence or proof will ever be good enough.

        May 4, 2011 at 10:48 pm |
      • lilly

Ok so there is a picture but how soon after that picture was released was it questioned? I'm sure most of the world back then was just happy that he was dead.

        May 4, 2011 at 10:51 pm |
        • Krasi, Houston

You would think that'd be good enough. But no, let's demand a right to see gruesome pictures to satisfy some morbid curiosity. People should stop demanding ridiculous rights.

since bin laden was on kidney dyalosis where is the machine? Are there any pictures showing the machine? If he never left the compound there has to be a machine in the buildings. It is also known that most people on dyalisis commit suicide after about three years after they start because of the pain involved, how did bin laden continue to deal with the pain? Could his ability to handle the pain be shared with others so those with family members trying to deal with the situation could benefit that knowledge.

The U.S. Navy uses a different verson of the BlackHawk called a SeaHawk. It is also grey in color. No "secret stealth" helio.

Then there is always the thought that we could spend billions of dollars building these things to make our troops safer and better then never use them just in case they might fall in the wrong hands.....Sounds like congress is medalling again

Pakistan was using US money to build a palatial site for Bin Laden and we are still saying they are our allies. The White House today replied during press meeting that Pakistan killed the maximum no of terrorists in their soil, it's true because that country has the most number of terrorists.

At least stop treating them like Kings when they are using tax payers money to protect Terrorists and Dons like Dawood Ibrahim.

    Think about it congressman

Sooooo, we are going to highlight and discuss this secret equipment..*on national television*? In detail? Let them speculate on the internet. Yeah, the pics are out there, but there is no reason to magnify it.

ok so the government can kill someone and show us the tax payer anything? they have live like five different storys buts that's ok because its the government let me or u do that we will get life in jail! look obama know that he is doing bad at the poles so how do he get the american people on his side lie. He been lieing since he got in office am not fooled!

We need to lighten up on Pakistan. They have been our ally, we go over 100 miles into their Sovereign Nation with an elite military unit, attack a residential dwelling for 40 minutes, within close proximity of a military installation, and then we haul out of there. As soon as we're out we start with the "they either knew or were incompetent". Really? I agree with what we did, but it was an act of war. We need to stop taunting them after the fact. Imagine the Cuban Army sent a squad into Miami and shot up a house to catch someone they were after? What would WE do?

    May 4, 2011 at 10:35 pm |
    • Karen

They have explaining to do, but not to me. I agree. I also think people need to look up the word "ally". It doesn't say anything about being BFFs.

On 911 we all witnessed pics & videos of fellow americans being killed, jumping out of buildings, burning on the roofs of the twin towers, planes crashing and killing our own.Now the US govt has the audacity to hold back the pics displaying the death of the very einstein who invented this. Hey USA it is closure time for allot of us, we can handle this . Show us the pics of Bin Laden the way we all hoped and prayed he would meet his end. Send the pictures with an undeniable message. You attack and kill us ..We will find and do this to you.

The fact they had a plan and the materials to blow the helicopter up just in case shows the planning of the mission was excellent

I think Bin Laden had 5 wives and 50 children.

Interesting discussion about the Compound and Osama bin Laden's family. It seems a long time for him to be hidden there without knowledge from the outside world.

    May 4, 2011 at 10:32 pm |
  37. Krasi, Houston

Personally, I think that if the men and women out there risking their lives to defend us do not want the pictures released, then people who are comfortable at home and throw opinions left and right do not deserve to have their morbid curiosity satisfied.

    May 4, 2011 at 10:31 pm |
  38. Patty FL

How can you do DNA testing in minutes when people wait days & weeks to get results back for cancer. Not to mention many people wrongly accused of crimes. I guess Pres. Obama should start using this speedy method in his so famous health care program & share it with all of the citizens of the USA & stop giving billions of dollars of our hard working money every year to Pakistan. Yes while there are so many people out of work & homeless here in our United States of America. I say, SHAME!!!

    May 4, 2011 at 10:30 pm |
    • Krasi, Houston

Dr Gupta was on 360 earlier this week and explained how DNA testing can be done quicker. It is possible and all people need to do is educate themselves.

      May 4, 2011 at 10:34 pm |
      • Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

        Yes,
It was match a dna, its on depends what they are making test if they match or not, whenever they conducted by DNA as well will take one or 2 days to look.

        May 4, 2011 at 10:40 pm |
    • Karen

I also imagine, they had it all ready. THey did take some time to rehearse and prepare every bit of this mission. It was just matching. I'm pretty sure the specialized military units have whatever they need. As I recall from 9/11, they did matching DNA and it was not lengthy.

So what were they supposed to do with the helicopter? It looks like everything except the tail is obliterated which would be the part with the most to worry about.

    May 4, 2011 at 10:30 pm |
  40. Chuck

Pictures are not relevant. Whether you like President Obama or not, the President of the United States is not going to go on Worldwide Television and announce that bin Laden is dead if he wasn't. For what, to have bin Laden pop up on TV three days later and say, "ha ha didn't get me, na na na na na naaaa". Wake up people and think with your heads and common sense.

    May 4, 2011 at 10:30 pm |

No kidding. MOST people out there are hailing this a great American victory. Ya think he'd let this go by if he were alive? It would infuriate him.

I don't think we need to see bin Lauden's head blow apart. I believe he is dead. I don't think it would do children or anyone any good to see grusome photos. There are fake pics out there now so what makes non believers believe if they saw the real thing? Personally I am glad he's in the ocean. The end

  50. Darlene

I have questions about this mission. When the helicopter hit the fence, I am sure it made noise, was the man on Twitter the only one to hear it? Did anyone in the compound hear it? Anyone at the military academy? We are now told that only one man was armed at the compound, yet there was a "firefight". Didn't anyone in the compound or the neighbors hear the gunfire? If I heard gunfire and had a weapon I would certainly go get it. Yet we are told bin Laden was unarmed but there were guns in the compound? Since billions of dollars have been spent on this manhunt, the public wants to know. I want to know. I don't want any of our troops in any more danger, however, what the militants are planning on doing will happen with or without a photos.
