Cleanup & Recovery from Deadly Tornadoes: Join the Live Chat

Pres. Obama visit the tornado ravaged city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama. The death toll has risen there and hundreds are unaccounted for. We'll have the latest. Plus, it was an extraordinary day in London, and they're still celebrating the royal wedding. We'll have moments you might have missed.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

I was just going to say something about Donald Trump but honestly, words fail me. What an embarrassment. No class at all.

Appreciate the coverage on tornado destruction. As a Bama native with family in NE Bama, want to remind you that so much of the state is suffering, not just Tuscaloosa. In DeKalb Co. alone, 35 people dead, the second largest concentration of fatalities as small town Rainsville and other communities were slammed. Folks there, while ignored and at the "end of the line" are pitching in to help each other and showing that Southern grit and charity. My parents report no power, sporadic services, etc. and damage spread across this densely populated rural area. They may not have electricity for a week. Thanks again for covering and keeping this before people even on day of royal wedding.

The Middleton women are so beautiful. Their dresses, just wonderful. The hats, loved all the hats. I'm still caught up in all the pomp and circumstance royal style.

Kate's dress remined me of Princess Grace of Monaco's wedding dress. It was very pretty

That is exactly what I thought when she exited her car at the steps of Westminster Abbey!!! She looked beautiful!!! If she was emulating Princess Grace in my opinion she made a great choice.

I saw tweets where Gadhafi is ranting on state TV again. They believed he was under the influence.

When hasn't he been under the influence of his own delusions? He is several cards short of a full deck....

I watched the entire event live this morning. I loved the hats and the men in their suits! Kate's parents looked so serious. The Queen seemed to enjoy the ceremony. Harry turning back to peek at the bride coming down the isle. It was a beautiful ceremony. When they left in the horse-drawn coach, I was speechless.

Recovery from the tornadoes in the South looks to be overwhelming–it's very sad. I hope the people there will receive help quickly.

    April 29, 2011 at 10:23 pm |

Just from the description of what has been destroyed, it sounds like the entire town has been destroyed by this tornado. They are in my prayers

The South had endured alot in the last few years. Just terrible, I hope they can find everyone that needs help quickly.

Our president Obama was there in few states, he was so distraught to see this disaster area, I was glad for his mission to see people help each other during difficult times.

    No basements? How weird.

    April 29, 2011 at 10:18 pm |
    • Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

Some do have basement or they don't have basement as well, Cellar is best safe place where they have shelter as well.

      April 29, 2011 at 10:21 pm |
    • Janis

Or at least a small storm cellar or some sort of crawl space would be good.

      April 29, 2011 at 10:22 pm |
    • Kaytee

In a lot of areas the soil is just not conducive for basements. Yazoo clay runs deep.

      April 29, 2011 at 10:23 pm |

My God! That's devastating. Hope everything will be ok soon. People who are trapped in the debris will be released soon.

It's so strange that tornados are happening in places where they are not supposed to happen, and happening alot in places where they are normal. Scary

I can't imagine what these people heard. It's hard to wrap your mind around it. I'm so sorry for them. I've been in near tornadoes, if you call them that, just huge cyclonic wind storms where you can hear a noise like a freight train approaching. By the time you figure out what it is, it's too late. Luckily my house just groans and cracks alot. This is just horrific for them.

The news about Alabama and the tornado is over whelming. I really do not know what to say and how to react. It is too much to absorb.

    April 29, 2011 at 10:09 pm |
    • Candyce

I agree, Lori. I just heard Anderson say that 446 are missing, just in Tuscaloosa. If there are that many missing just in one city, how many more are missing across the entire area? It brings tears to my eyes.

      April 29, 2011 at 10:25 pm |
  33. Sharon Hastings

I lived a good part of my life in "tornado territory" but I have never seen or heard of anything like this. The man talking about his dogs being drawn up in the air like kites on their leashes was horrifying. I'm so glad he could pull them back down and they are all okay.

    April 29, 2011 at 10:08 pm |
    • MaryBeth

That was definitely surreal! I can't believe he was able to hold on to them and not get blown away himself!

Beautiful wedding. But I fell asleep when they were walking out of the church and missed the rest. Caught the highlights later though.

    Anderson,
Hi! It's great to see you on.
I watched your full coverage of the royal wedding this morning. The ceremony was lovely. The wedding dress was beautiful. The guests' hats were unique. The carriage ride to Buckingham Palace was most reminiscent of Princess Diana. I greatly enjoyed your commentary throughout the morning. You must be exhausted!
