Trump claims Obama birth certificate 'missing'

(CNN) – Real estate mogul Donald Trump's latest claim about President Obama's birth certificate is that it's missing.
"Well I've been told very recently, Anderson, that the birth certificate is missing," Trump told CNN's Anderson Cooper Monday. "I've been told that it's not there or it doesn't exist. And if that's the case it's a big problem."
When asked from whom he received the information, Trump said he didn't want to say and that he feels bad about the situation.
"I'd love for him to produce his birth certificate so that you can fight one-on-one," Trump said in an interview set to air Monday. "If you look at what he's doing to fuel prices, you can do a great fight one-on-one, you don't need this issue."
CNN's Gary Tuchman also interviewed the former director of the Hawaii Department of Health, who said she has seen the original birth certificate in the vault at the Department of Health.
In 2008, the Obama campaign released an official document called a "certification of live birth" which indicates he was born in Hawaii. This document, which is a computerized abstract of his birth information that the State of Hawaii issues to individuals requesting their birth records, satisfies proof-of-birth requirements for various federal matters, including obtaining a passport. Several news organizations as well as the Annenberg Fact Check Project viewed the document first-hand and verified that it contained the official raised seal as well as a signature stamp of the state registrar.
Trump has made national headlines by questioning the president's birthplace, even saying he has hired investigators in Hawaii to examine the situation. The reality TV star is mulling a bid for the White House and expects to make a final decision at the end of May, after the latest season of "Celebrity Apprentice" concludes.

It may be a dead issue, but it's still an issue. If this were a republican the media would create a frenzy. Show the birth certificate if you have it. If you don't, well that's a big problem isn't it?
I say this simple point. It has become a grand debate, because the presidency of the United States doesn't fall into the category of "various federal matters". Ok!? So, if his birth certificate has "issues," then that is a matter of national concern, and We The People DEMAND an intelligent response- one that doesn't dismiss our own educated inquirey. This certainly is not just Donald Trump speaking! It's a small business owner, who is closing his doors permanently, while a "person in question" sits on the throne of my small business, whom I didn't vote for.

I think its just a big issue of Obama being either african americam or muslim, but he's a good president and he met the qualifications and it should be left alone
The American people want to see not only the president's birth certificate but more os us also think that Obama's reluctance to show the people a government document must have other things to hide. Let's see his school records too.
The birth certificate is extraneous. What is important to me is the President spent his formative years growing up outside the United States. As someone who has spent the last 40 years, or so, all over the world I can attest to the fact that no matter how long you reside in any country you will not fully understand the people and culture unless you grew up there. You will always be an outsider looking in. Look at all the pundits on all the foreign new networks who spend their time talking about how we do things in the United States but demonstrate their fundamental lack of understanding of the American people. In fact, if you were born and raised in California you are a citizen of a different country than the United States, too. What do Californians do when they emigrate from California for greener, or at least cheaper, pastures? They inevitably demand their local community become like California, much to the dismay of the lifelong residents. Ask any Arizona native what they think of the influx of Californians. You are a product of your genes and the environment where you were raised. That would not be the United States of America for President Obama.
I am not so sure of whom to vote for in the upcoming presidential election but the more I see this issue and/or claim that Trump is making about President Obama, the stronger I am pushing towards of voting for him because is ridiculous to see how some people can be so disparate for power. Trump has instigated so many people to tears similar to that of madoff for his heartlessness and endless greed for money that results to bankruptcies. How are we sure that Trump will not trade United States of America to China or Saudi Arabia and then come back home to declare nation’s bankruptcy to satisfy his greed for money.
I can understand if politicians are addressing matters that are important to the people with facts on what they can do to provide solutions but not to ethically be so insensitive to the point of debasing and/or dehumanizing their opponents or political challengers in order to gain cheap popularity.
Honestly speaking, I do not even expect Trump to publicly announce his interests in Presidential role due to his reputation in relation his endless declarations of institutional bankruptcies. If he fails in managerial responsibilities so many times running just companies how can he run the whole country successfully without foreclosing the country?
The media should stop giving him cheap attention and focus on what matter most to the people and not the despicable claims of Trump and others who greedily and/or covetously seeking attention for low popularity and for the purpose of magnifying their bank accounts and not caring for others who are currently jobless and for those without health care coverage. This type of discussion does not look good on us as Americans from the perspectives of viewers outside of the United States. It is a disgraceful argument and evidence-less debates. It is totally a waste of time and distraction from critical issues that are facing the country.

The certificate of birth is on a form that you would have if you were born last week. If you were born in Honolulu in 1961 the certificate issued would be a copy of the 1961 form not the current format. Where is the 1961 certificate of live birth?
Trump will self distruct in few weeks, if the republicans continue to produce candidate like trump, their chance of winning is zero.

I personaly think mr. trump is Arrogant, he can have million or trillion dollar, i think for many american people his no body, he never will be satisfied about the birth certificate,....... after this mr. trump will bring up something else, he will do anything to take the president down before the election in 2012...... I think Trump should produce his birth certificate. This is an old argument. Is this all he has to go on? Of all the issues that America faces this seems a bit lame. Better to not bring it up until he has ALL his FACTS. He is not looking like an intelligent person right now.
The real comcern should be onm John Mccain when it comes to birthing, since he was born in Panama in 1936 and spent the first 2 years of his life there and never had a Certificate of a Citizen Born Abroad issued.
The certificate number is reducted which lives to question the authenticity of the document.

why is it a big problem? he had to show proof when he ran for president,so now they are trying everything to get under Obama skin. The best thing they can do is let Obama do his job and they do their job. Donald need to give some of that money to the needy .

I find the question as to his birth to be absolutely relevant.. He doth protest too much, methinks. Too many people that support the president blindly want the question to go away. In fact, I believe that the original certificate proves that he was born in Hawaii. However, there is some critical information that cannot be made public. What information can that be? Well take a look at an actual HI birth certificate and notice the line 7.a -c. Usual residence of mother. Just a thought.

My daughter was born in Nevada and on her birth certificate it state Certificate of Live Birth does it mean she could not run for president so day. I think Donald Trump does not want to believe that Mr. Obama was born in the United States.
Trump is actually quite entertaining. Politically he is a joke, he would NEVER run for president and air out his dirty laundry...God forbid. He is obsessing over Obama and that's unhealthy not to mention borders on paranoia. He may be bi-polar (no offense to anyone who is) but he flip flops. A few years ago he was all for a universal healthcare now he is anti everything, seems strange. I guess he only supports what suits his needs to get him the media attention he craves like a little child. Sad for a grown man to act that way and try to pick a fight with everyone. And the fact he won't reveal his sources is a joke. I'm glad Robert De Niro called him out on his crap. He said if you can't back it up, don't say terrible things and the man is 100% right.
