Arizona House OKs 'birther' bill: Join the Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Tonight on AC360°, the country’s first “birther” bill awaits a signature from Arizona’s Republican governor. In the meantime, we’re speaking tonight to the lawmaker who sponsored the bill and we’re Keeping Him Honest.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Great discussion on the proposed ban on undercover videos. It is so wrong! If laws like this are passed it will open the door for even more abuse.

These videos have exposed the terrible abuse in slaughterhouses.

Farmers should want us to see what is happening on those farms if they aren't abusing animals.

Exactly, Merl. Abuse is not necessary. It is a bad sign for a civilization.

Please everyone, lets do what u can; adopt a healthy lifestyle, give up unhealthy meat, or at least HELP STOP the Agribiz manipulation of free speech & laws to try and prevent the public from seeing and knowing their hateful and torturous treatment of these poor helpless animals!

Can these factory farmers be charged with murder or manslaughter if their farms are found to be the source of bad food that causes food poisoning or deaths?

My God! The story is scary.

The abuse of animals must stop. What are these factory "farmers" trying to hide? The FDA should require video surveillance as part of their inspections. See the documentary "Food, Inc."

THANK YOU, for exposing this heinous idea of doing away with undercover videotaping of farm animals! Anyone against undercover has something to HIDE!

My husband and brother were born in Honolulu, Hawaii. They only have certificates of live birth. Are they no longer considered citizens of the USA? My brother lives in AZ. If the AZ bill passes can he no longer consider running for office?

What about all the others that were born in Hawaii?

    @ Janis, ...only humane thing...

My ancestors and myself raised animals to help feed our families for decades and never had to abuse one. And would not allow any abuse.

@Nina 10:36 China is a different world. There is a great wall between people and their free speech right 🙁 Guess no one asks.

It's almost worth the money to buy things that are organic or you know are from animals that aren't abused.

    April 15, 2011 at 10:55 pm |
  21. Nicole Netherlands

Oke, here I go, for everyone who can not look at these video's.
-It is on your plate every day.-
The suffering these animals have to go through every minute, every hour, to become your food.

Your wallet is your vote. You can not trust these factory farmers.
Please eat organic meat or don't eat meat at all.

Now I hope I am stil welcome here 😉
I became a vegetarian some 20 years ago, I love animals and we have only one planet to share

    Good Night =Everyone=!!!

Of course this must be disclosed. Animals are abused, then murdered. Exactly! Factory farmers are murderers!! But as usual, people are not educated and accept anything blindly. They need to be exposed. The eggs that people eat are from battery hens. The animals are debeaked, declawed. Geese are force fed..these are only a few of the heinous acts of humanity on animals. Exactly, do you think the animals were healthy in the first place?

    April 15, 2011 at 10:53 pm |
  23. MaryBeth

I don't understand why they would treat animals that way. Don't they understand that they can give people food poisoning and possibly kill lots of people?

    April 15, 2011 at 10:53 pm |
  24. Chi

@Nina 10:51 Totally agree with you

    April 15, 2011 at 10:53 pm |
  25. Janis

You just don't want to know how the meat you eat gets to market. I don't think there will be anything humane anytime. The only humane thing is to become a vegitarian.

  26. Mitch Dworkin - Dallas, Texas

I think that people who are intentionally cruel to animals and who are against transparency should be criminally investigated and prosecuted to help deter others from doing the same awful thing. I really like what I hear Jane and Sunny saying and I agree with John King that "sunlight is the greatest disinfectant." Thank you for exposing this animal cruelty!

    April 15, 2011 at 10:52 pm |
  27. Merl, Ohio

They don't want to abuse animals in my eyesight. It's bad enough to factory farm living things. Don't agree with tactics.

    April 15, 2011 at 10:51 pm |
  28. Nina

    Animal rights should be first!

    April 15, 2011 at 10:51 pm |
  29. Chi

For sure. As long as they keep cameras out, they have sth to hide. 100% sure.

    April 15, 2011 at 10:50 pm |
  30. Sharon Hastings

Of course this terrible treatment of these animals is awful and as far as protecting the food supply, remember that it has come out in the last few days that approx. 1/2 of the meat that we eat are contaminated with that awful strain of staph that is resistent to most antibiotics. Yuck. Makes being a vegetarian more and more desirable.

    April 15, 2011 at 10:50 pm |
  31. Nina

It breaks my heart to see how mankind treats animals of consumption. I was a vegetarian for 20 years due to this issue. 🙁

    Jane Mitchell is spot on!!!
