Shutdown: 800,000 federal workers in the dark

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) - There are two kinds of federal workers right now: the essential and the non-essential. Most don't know which group they're in.

And none of them will be getting a paycheck if the government goes dark.

The budget stalemate between Congress and President Obama has raised the specter of a shutdown at the end of Friday.

If they don't reach a deal, the government will shift to performing only "essential operations."

It's likely that more than 1 million essential employees will be asked to come to work - and not be paid.

But workers deemed non-essential won't be allowed to come to work or work from home. They won't even be allowed to turn on their BlackBerries. The official estimate from the White House is that 800,000 workers would be asked to stay home.

If the govt is having such a problem with the budget and the trillions of dollars in the hole then they need to stop giving people a tax break that making over 1 to 2 million dollars a year and taxing the middle and lower class more.I would recommend a tax of 15% across the board for everyone nomatter what they make so it is fair to everyone in this country maybe it would help out.

    I'm Very sorry.
Our government that we have elected to be our lesders and make decisions for our country. Now they stand idle bickering back and forth, on how to balance the budget. I have a very good idea. If they do not come to an agreement and our working class people loose thier pay checks. Then WE THE PEOPLE SHOULD AND WILL PROTEST that they should be the ones to loose thier checks. If they close the government, they should loose thier pay checks one month for every hour they have us shut down.
After 24 hrs they should be removed from Congrss and Senate PERIOD, No Questions asked. Why are thier pay checks going to continue? When the working class will loose thiers. If we take there pay checks away from them for one year we would be in better shape. They are in no way earning thier pay.
