The U.S. military has now joined efforts to evacuate refugees from the overcrowded border with Tunisia.
But Moammar Gadhafi is hanging on, using the same weapons he has for the last four decades: Terror and lies. We're Keeping Them Honest.

When you look back in history at any country that was split or fractured, the people will always unite and combat a perceived threat from an outside enemy.

The reporters are admirably brave. Thank you for bringing out the truth.

Anderson... yes, the lies continue... please keep bringing us the truth.

@Megan, thanks. They are not my friends, but I am thinking of them. Here everyone wants to know what happened, why that helicopter, who made this discission, who gave the order.
That sort of discussion. No real information
One journalist called it an "exceptional" discission to do this near the birthground of Kadaffi...
I hope they will be released soon, very soon..
Then two people who they tried to rescue are in Europe.

The reporting from Tripoli takes on a hopelessness due to living in all the fear. The reporting coming from the East side of Libya is upbeat and "we can do this" attitude – so much hope.

Shows you how swimming in fear day after day just takes your will away. Think of 40 years of it – terrible.

The air strikes on his own people are unacceptable. There needs to be a "balance of power." Creating a "no fly zone" over Libya would give that balance of power. We tried to take out Ghadafi a number of years ago and that wasn't considered an act of war, so why would a no fly zone be an act of war?

Has anyone counted how many the word "to kill" Gadhafi used in the last of his 3 speeches?

America’s military action may enable Qaddafi to rally those Libyans who are possibly still unsure or on the fence to back him against the "invading country” (the U.S.)

Col Ghadafi, stop the violence and leave

Qaddafi first threatened the Libyan people, and that did not work. Now he is trying to unite his people who are still on the fence... and what better way then to threaten outside force like the US or Europe will take over Libya

Bengahzi has become organized – they declared a government – there was so much hope in that message. Isn't that true, Anderson? It was reported on The Arena earlier.

Eve'n Anderson and everyone, Stay safe to the many brave journalists like Nic Robertson and all esp in the heart of Tripoli, one of those blink and you might miss it with so much going on around and in front of them. Stay Safe, prayers are with you and the people and peace soon to come InSha'Allah

I heard that soldiers in Gahdafi's military are being killed and put on display to scare any other soldiers if they defy or try to leave to go to the opposition.

That seems terrible for any of them being forced to take up arms – pilots may be flying missions they don't want to fly because their families could be murdered if they don't.

This conflict is hard to witness because of all the possibilities caused by fear.

@Nadia: Thanks for your post. It says alot about the kind of fear and treatment even little children experience at the hands of this brutal regime. More power to those seeking to escape it and start a real life for themselves and their children.

Tramadol is a drug that leads your mind to believe you are not in pain (I was prescribed it). It is not even a controlled substance drug. Tell Ghadafi.

They think we can be so easily side track with so call illegal drugs. Murder is murder. Hiring someone to come in your country to kill your people is drugged out!

If the protestors can gain control of the oil, they will be able to cut off Qaddafi's monies in funding the mercenaries and his military.

Thanks AC, you are doing a great job.

Mr Ibrahim says that Libya is a free Qa'ada country. At the same time same time Gadhafi and his son says Benghazi is controlled by Qa'ada to ABC, BBC and Skynews. Good luck with that.

drugs that cause drowsiness and constipation..this leader is getting more ridiculous as the days go by..it's shows true desperation of a man that knows he's losing. I just hope that he's not just buying time to hide all his money!!!

It appears that Gaddafi assumes that using the term "alqaeda" will scare americans into supporting him.

Qaddafi thinks that what he expresses, will convince many Libyans as it has done in the past. He is trying to unite those Libyans who remain on the fence

When I was at grade 4 at school, i got beaten up with a stick by one of Kaddafi's fan coz I didn't answer a question well about the green book. This is what they called education for more than 40 years. They don't deny Libya is a rich country then I ask them how come my father's pension is only 160 LYD(about140 USD)? How he suppose to feed a family of 5? while Kaddafi's sons and relatives spending millions $ to entertain themselves among Hollywood stars and champagne, buying luxury gifts to women's gives them pleasure! People of Libya is been struggling don't listen to their lies!!!
