[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Tonight we have breaking news out of Tuscon, Arizona where we've learned new details on Rep. Gabrielle Giffords recovery. Dr. Sanjay Gupta and Elizabeth Cohen will have the details. Plus, inside a cold case in New Mexico. Four people killed 21-years-ago  at a bowling alley, some of them children. We'll talk with John Walsh, Host of "America's Most Wanted."

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

    @ CHARLIE Pretty sad!

    @Starr, formerly known as vincent
I wonder how many Americans are becoming tired of all the fear mongering!

That interview really highlighted the difference between the US and the UK. Churchills said the US and the UK were two great nations separated by a common language.

Further, does anyone even really understand what Sharia law is? My understanding is that even Muslims differ on what it is and there are many interpretations of it. So the fact that there would be enough muslims who agreed to a complicated plan to secretly infiltrate conservatives or any other group for this purpose seems unlikely.

    Emily,
Yes I did notice FG never addressed Anderson's question.

"Why is spreading fear so popular with certain groups now? It's a waste or everyone's precious time"

Fear motivates people like none other! Unfortunately, they are 'crying wolf' on a daily basis saturating us to the point that if something was to happen, no one would believe it.

Spreading fear is a more effective tactis in US politis than spreading hope or truth. So sad.

@Nina & Emily – i agree with both of you. Mr. Gaffney's allegations appear to stem from pure unadulterated FEar.
I too am weary of the scare tactics that some have used since 9/11.
These kind of claims makes us look foolish to the rest of the world.

@Emily, I think it started back in 2008

Ha Ha Ha! The fear-based right has become completely unhinged. My god, they see secret Muslims everywhere, under every bed, inside every dark closet. The conservatives and the right are too afraid of too many things to be able to govern effectively in the modern world. They have no solutions to problems facing America, just fear, lies and their endless wars.

The 2012 Campaign is about to start, is my guess.

    @ Nina
Absolutely. The US really is a nation in fear of everything China, Muslims, disease, change. Is is pitiful to watch.

Did yous notice that Frank Gaffney NEVER "addressed" Andersons question?

    This is just fear mongering.

It is already accepted wisdom that evenrually the US will haev to deal with the Taliban to get any sort of settlement in Afghanistan. That will make this discussion look like trivia.

The only Muslim country implement the Shariah law is Saudi Arabia. There are 47 Muslim countries.

I feel like we are a country which continues to chase our tail from fear... good grief!

First I've heard of radical Islamists infiltrating conservatives?? Are we sure this is just not more paranoia. All these allegations of "secret" jihadists and infiltration seems pretty far out.

    January 20, 2011 at 10:20 pm |
  20. Starr, formerly known as vincent

You've got to be kidding about this Muslim infiltration & establishment of Sharria (sp) law?!
Does anyone really think, given our Constitution, that Sharria Law could possibly be accepted by the American public??
    Where are the facts?
I'm no saying that attempts to infiltrate jobs, professions, locations, etc. may not be happening – but Politics?
Anderson, really, really appreciate your "keeping them honest" segement.

Why can't some people take the good advice that has long been passed down to everyone.....if you can't say anything nice, do not say anything at all

Thank God for Gabby, its pretty rare for someone getting a bullet to the head and surviving it. i pray she recovers fully and hopefully gets back to representing her constituents.

These sound like scare tactics from Frank Gaffney.

I find myself so tired of the "fear" that just abounds in the US.

Radical christian want to bring biblical law to the US why should muslims not be allowed to pursue a similar path? I don't agree with either group I am just highlighting the hypocrisy.

  26. Ryan from Toronto

As a devout Christian, I am extremely offended at the way American politicians are treating Muslims as of late. It seems as though the Conservative Movement in the United States is attempting to reduce the average American-Muslim to being a second-class citizen; one that should be looked at with suspicion. If it's not Gov. Chris Christie, Gov. Robert Bentley, it's another right-wing politician or pundit. It's this sort of environment that makes me proud to be a Canadian, whom might I add, is a member of the Conservative Party of Canada. The only infiltration in the US, is an infiltration of hatred and intolerance.

Thee is both good news and bad news about Mrs. Giffords. The bad news is that she still cannot speak but the good news is that she can stand up with assistance and move her arms and legs. More details will come soon.

I have no doubt that Giffords will have no problems with her therapy and will have no problems cognition wise. She has already proven alot with just what she is doing that she should have no problems healing fast
