I would like more to be said about schizophrenia often not become obvious until the middle 20s. To ask people to watch for the signs of it in middle or high school is not a good question, but to watch for the increasing signs as they go into their 20s on into the 30s is. I feel so bad for everyone hurt by this tragedy. I also can't imagine being in such a state of detachment from reality as it appears he was/is. There are probably thousands, maybe millions like that who need help before there wrongly wired brains cause them to act out.

Wish everyone there had been as lucky as this family. The mother was so brave to shield her children and very lucky not to have been more seriously injured. You always wonder how you would react in a situation like this – this mother acted the way most of us would hope to act and will be a source of inspiration and a good example going forward.

Anderson, Could we please get an update on the lower 9th ward, Herbert Gettridge, Sr. in particular? I often think of this courageous elderly gentleman and his efforts to rebuilt his home for his wife.
    thanks for all you do,
