I was also taken aback by the comment that June Cleaver was politically incorrect. Did I misunderstand? Today that might be true; however, in the world of the 1950's and early 60's women were encouraged to stay at home. The men had returned from WWII and the Korean War. The men were to do the work that many women had done during those wars. I recall that many midwest school districts would not hire married women. The idea throughout our society was that women should not take work from a man.

Now, donimus, you got to be kidding! "Father Knows Best" and "Leave it to Beaver" 24 hours a day!!!? I saw those shows when I was growing up as you say in the 50s and 60s, and I could not believe them then, What makes you thing that the new kids AND grown ups will believe them NOW!

You are right when you say "Back th[e]n they had an abundance of what you need a microscope to find nowadays..." - Real Love - True Nurturing - Understanding of the difference among peoples - Tolerance - etc.

There is bad at all times in our History, but we also have MORE good now than in the 50s and 60s.

Barbara Billingsley (June Cleaver) was a working mom with nannies that cared for her children and housekeepers to clean while she was working. June Cleaver isn't real.

Yes many moms stayed home in the 50's and 60's but its hard to live on one income today. Then you could buy a nice house on one income. A milk man could support his family while his wife stayed home. Not today.

Just a comment during – during one part of the segment the male commentator referred to the TV shows "Father Knows Best" and "Leave it to Beaver" both were very good shows – anyways he went on to mention about June Cleaver in "Leave it to Beaver" as always in the kitchen didn't work – and that in todays world that show would be considered politically incorrect – and l'm going you got to be kidding me. Than he said something about June Cleaver always being in the kitchen than he goes "thank god that doesn't happen anymore". At that point l'm jumping out the chair. What a reckless statement to make. At that time which was the late 1950's early 60's the divorce rate in America was non existent – there were very few single parents. I'm going this guy is insane, if anything they should bring those shows back and broadcast them 24 hrs a day – in this so called modern age America leads the whole World in divorce – single parent families – and juvenile crime & gangs all three of those categories are related with one another.

Back than they had an abundance of what you need a microscope to find nowadays – loving – nurturing – wives like June Cleaver.
