3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links

I'm sorry but Boehner's choking up was a bit weird. Now McConnell is choking up on the floor over Judd Gregg leaving. If these guys cared this much about regular people something might get done. I'm a girl and I don't get this choked up over things. It seems a bit odd.

Earmarks or not. It's just a bunch of flippin and floppin. I agree with Paul Begala. There have been a lot of hippocrates involved in the spending of all this pork $$.

Our country is full of people spending money they don't have. It's become part of our culture and congress is no different. This is why individually and collectively so many are in huge trouble.

Next year we will have to be on an "austarity" budget.
If not, we will never pay our debt down.
I don't trust Congress to do the right thing ever at this point.
Paul B. makes a good point about how earmarks will never go away.
    Good panel discussion, as usual.

@Howie: It's surprisingly difficult to hit something with a handgun especially when you are emotionally upset and take no time to aim. Also fyi I just read where the shooter had an extensive criminal history that involved guns.

Anderson, will there be a live audience?

"The man was angry and in a rage"
Were his eyes ever scary! It's really great that no one else was physically hurt in that board room. Seeing that video was really eerie; I can't imagine what it must have been like to be in that room.

Incredible video but when he didn't shoot the woman who hit him with the purse and then missed(?) the superintendent from point blank range it almost seemed like he never intended to hurt anyone but himself. Why didn't AC broach that possibility with the superintendent?

It's too bad that those poker chips in Vegas don't have some sort of serial numbers or something on them in case of thefts like this. That's a LOT of money he stole!

@Nina, thanks for the compliment. I was brought up to be stoic (sp)?
But, ultimately i ended up in the Hospital with a nervouse breakdown
That happens with most people who will hurt themselves Before they hurt someone else.

I agree about gun control. I have guns, i am trained how to use them. No One should have a gun without a permit and training. (especially hand guns)

"People gets fired or loose there jobs all time. No jobs are guaranteed."
You said it all. Even government employees are being laid off. Unfortunately, the word "job security" is a term from the past

I hope everyone in that room is thanking God right now, because shooting a target at 8 feet away is easy for even an inexperienced shooter.

    Tom and Anderson,
Thanks telling me what happened and how happened, gunman had big problem with his wife had fired her job, that is so disturbing to see video!!! I agree with both of you.... 🙂

Lori, seems odd that they'd go to the trouble of having bullet-proof desks, but not a system in place to make sure guns aren't brought into the place.. :-/

  36. Lori

The area where the school board was seated is called a dias. I think that those are made of bullet proof materials because shootings happen.

With the economic down trend... I am afraid we will be seeing more of this type of behavior. People feeling up against the wall with no where to go...

The man was angry and in a rage. What a sad ending for gunman. It's good that everyone else was ok.

How did this gunman get a gun into the school in the first place? Was there not any detectors to set it off?

Oh I see now. The security officer didn't arrive until he heard the first shot. Amazing. I knew nothing about this until this show. I missed the regular news in Florida this evening.

People respond and cope with stress in many different ways. You must have very good coping skills to deal with being unemployed and still behaving with composure and intelligence

The woman who hit the gunman with her purse is the real hero of this story. She deserves serious recognition because she took action, as well as the security guard who shot the guy.

    December 14, 2010 at 10:30 pm |
  45. Mike - Las Vegas

It's going to be that the shooter is just another random crazy guy who has gone off his meds or something like that. Glad no innocent victims got killed and another crazy person has checked himself out of life. Good riddance!

    "He wanted to die"....
I wonder if he really had a wife that was let go from there?
The investigation into this shooting should hopefully provide many answers to the unanswered questions.

I believe that those desks are bullet proof. Most chambers like that are bullet proof.
