NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) - The government's monthly labor report threw a curve ball Friday morning as November's job growth came in far lower than expected and the unemployment rate rose to 9.8%.
U.S. employers added 39,000 jobs to their payrolls in November, the Labor Department reported. That marks a major slowdown from October, when the economy added an upwardly revised 172,000 jobs.
November's numbers also fell short of the 150,000 gain that economists surveyed by CNNMoney.com were expecting.

i believe the republicans are forgeting one big factor. It is a term that has been with the free enterprize system since it started. It is called supply and demand. Simply put if unemployment benefits are not taken care first and for most, THERE WILL BE NO DEMAND THERE FOR NO SUPPLY, THE TAX CUTS TO THE WEALTHY WON'T MEAN A DARN THING ANYHOW. We fight terrorism every day, now we are faced with the same thing being done to us by our elected officials the ones we voted in. If the republicans want to be worried about something, let them be worried about the next election because if benefits are dropped because of they "terrorism on hold back benefits. there won't be a republican in office come next election.
50 million unemployable Americans should be given federal jobs even if those jobs just require them to show up and punch a time clock. The jobs can then be terminated making them eligible to collect unemployment benefits. The federal job experience picked up by those that were once unemployable will give them a good chance of being rehired even if only to punch a time clock.
Were we expecting a Christmas miracle? We are far from hitting bottom yet, remaining in free fall....as in collapse.
