Heroes nominator: 'Krishnan has taken a challenge that others would shy away from.'

Program Note: CNN Heroes received more than ten thousand nominations from 100 countries.. A Blue Ribbon Panel selected the Top 10 CNN Heroes for the year. Voting for the CNN Hero of the Year continues through November 18th (6am ET) at CNNHeroes.com

Rajesh Naik
Nominated Narayanan Krishnan | HIS STORY

Krishnan has taken a challenge that others would shy away from no matter how concerned they are, as it most challenging to support people who are homeless and mentally challenged.

He is someone who could have pursued some glamorous career opportunities by staying on as a 5-star hotel chef, but he found a more meaningful role in helping others. Today, he cares for approximately 400 people who’ve been left alone on the streets with nobody to take care of them.

CNN Heroes is a unique program which is different than other mainstream media outlets. CNN has truly helped many people to receive support, and more than that – it has inspired others to do something helpful. I was elated to see that.

I also found some of the comments written by people from all over the world quite satisfying – it was wonderful to see that irrespective of the culture or country, Krishnan’s example has touched everyone.

True and selfless help is divine. It does not matter whether you do what Krishnan is doing – everyone can do something small in your own unique way in our daily lives. I hope Krishnan’s acts inspire others to do that.
