On Elizabeth Smart's case – the kidnapper's plea of insanity -
There is too much use of insanity plea. To some degree, all sociopaths are "insane." No one in their "right mind" commits these horrible crimes. But they should not be given an out or commutation of sentence because of "insanity" plea when they kidnap people, rape people, kill etc.
Also, when unconscionable acts like the one we are seeing are committed, punishment should be steep and justice swift. Justice delayed is justice denied.
My heart goes out to Elizabeth Smart. That kid needs some hugs and some serious recoup time and therapy.

Using a machete?? That word makes me think of a tool you use to get through thick jungles in South America. Another heinous crime. When does the madness stop?
Another Senseless murder case by young people.
The judge was right, they all belong in a cage for the rest of their lives (although i understood from the report that two of them got pleas "deals").
When we talk about "music" influencing violent behavior, it seems to me we could argue that positive and kind behavior would exist as a result of consistent exposure to maybe something like the Sound of Music...over and over and over, don't you think?

Didn't you see the video? When someone is standing in front of a polling place with a weapon it is intimidation and should be fully investigated especially when their leader said white babies should be killed. That wasn't made up by any "group".

@Samantha Rowley, I agree. I read his speech in India - it is so encouraging.. I wish he could give a GENUINE (in-touch) and ENCOURAGING speech to the youth of USA.
President Obama's speech was filled with optimism, something I'd like to hear more of in these days and times.

Anderson, you are so right about Sarah Palin. She has a pattern of lashing back immediately and with sarcasm at anyone who disagrees with her. It is a form of bullying and intimidation – the problem is it works. People back away from the criticism. The trouble is she may bully her way into the presidency if people don't wake up. Good luck
