Washington (CNN) – Rep. Darrell Issa (R-California), the next chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is walking back remarks he made on conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh's show last month in which he called President Obama "one of the most corrupt presidents in modern times."
In an interview with CNN lead political anchor Wolf Blitzer on the Situation Room, Issa initially said, 'It was a campaign and I make no bones about it – if I had to do it over again I'd have parsed my words a little more carefully."
But he defended his use of the word corrupt, saying, "When you hand a president nearly a trillion dollars in walking around money, he uses it for political paybacks, that's corrupt."
Pressed on the point, Issa said, "Do I think the president is personally corrupt, no, I should never have implied that or created that in a quick statement on a radio call-in."
During the interview, Issa also called for bipartisan cooperation and insisted that his leadership of the Government Reform committee would not be a witch-hunt for members of previous administrations, but rather a way to improve the function of government.

Wow where was he when Bush was handing out no bid contracts to Cheney and his cronies?
And you can trust this guy to work with Democrats? Whether he likes it or not someone ( THe president of the USA) who he was immorally prepared to describe as "corrupt" ( retraction or not ) means he will do only whatever is politically expedient for him ( his party) any time, any where, never mind the people.
I say Impeach him for making false accusations!!
Regards,
Hodgson.
Of course he walked back on his comment, he got re elected by fear and anger. when its all said and done The ones that should be investigated is all the bankers that caused the economic collapse in the first place.
Concerning Representative Mr. Darrell Issa, I became interested in learning more about Mr. Issa after seeing his appearance on the Bill Maher show this past Friday evening, Nov. 5,1020. Having accessed Wikkipedia for additional information concerning Mr. Issa, I was somewhat surprised at what it had to report on his youthful behavior. Perhaps, some of this in-formation is suspect, I have no idea how information is gleaned for this particular source. However, if this is accurate information, I am somewhat surprised that Mr. Issa has become a member of Congress. However, as a good friend of mine once told me, "No, Carol, you are not stupid, but you certainly are innocent, naive, vulnerable, and gullible". Perhaps, more knowledgeable sources can validate these findings.
Ha! A Californian Republican talking about fiscal responsibility. Well that is enough to stop a reader in their tracks. And then topping it off by calling the nation's President corrupt. Now that is definitely the pot calling the kettle black. And this Mr. Issa is going to be the next chairman of oversight?!? You overstep yourself, Mr. Representative. I nominate you for the King of oversight.
You guys talked about Prez. Obama trip to Asia a lot but only from the American perspective. You guys did not even mention a little bit about what Prez. Obama talked about Burma (Myanmar) in his speeches in India, in Indonesia. I'm struggling to believe on what one of my colleagues told to me: American media are just for America interest. Well, well, well, .....
Issa is a typical politician, will say anything to get elected or he has skeletons in his own closet.
Lets forget all of the Bull Crap, the Company IDTA has come up with a Great way to help keep people who fly safer. They came up with a Explosive testing Kit and a Chemical tracer Kit that can help keep us safe. Why hasn't this benn placed in all of the Airports across the Country!! I can see this Kit in every home and in every Airport in the very near future.
Same old, Same old. Another politician we can point to with pride, brimming with integrity. He momentarily lost his head dreaming of how rich he could get!!!!!!!!!!!
Anderson,Mr.Issa was thinking of his buddy republican Randy Cunningham. He should be embarrassed of his behavior. He is acting very irresponsibly.
Republicans discriminate U.S. Pres. Obama so obvious!!!
