This comment is for Mr. Perry. I'm a first semester PhD student and I've been closely watch your inspirational segments on the state of our school system. My study of interest is Curriculum Instructor and Instructional Design. I’m gearing my philosophy around the ideology of taking "Lemons and Making lemonade”, rather it is a poor school, poor budget, poor student or whatever the case may be, I think as educators it’s our job to take those opportunities and deal the hand that’s dealt hence take "lemons and make lemonade." My goal is to research instructional designs that will help the teachers only see the students face when that walk in the classroom, nothing else. I plan to teach higher education and my question is what or how can we do better as educators to insure those we educate will at the end of day, see only eager faces and be willing to strive hold heartily to insure the student success or at least give it all they've got?
Taxpayers would be appalled, if they knew the amount of money that goes to pay the exorbitant salaries of so-called administrators.
People with fancy titles by their name, but do NOTHING that benefits students.
(e.g. Curriculum Directors, Assessment Coordinators, Program Managers, Educational Consultants, etc!) People that have been out of the classroom in years, and are absolutely CLUELESS!
" . . . wined and dined by the big publishing companies."
