We have breaking news out of North Carolina where new subpoenas are issued in the investigation of former presidential candidate John Edwards. Plus,  the student body president at the University of Michigan breaks his silence. Hear what Chris Armstrong has to say about the attacks by the state's assistant district attorney.  Anderson also talks with talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw on bullying.

Good for Chris Armstrong to speak up in light of the tragic deaths over the past 2 weeks. I hope he has some kind of bodyguard. I'm not so sure a protection order on paper will stop anyone who might pursue him.

I agree, Janis. He clearly isn't a media-hog. Bless his heart for gathering his courage and making a public statement.

    Karoline,
"Does Shervill still think he's in college?"
It seems like he thinks that he can have an overwhelming impact on the college, just because he graduated from there. I don't think that makes his voice 'That' loud.

Wondering why Shirvell targeted Chris Armstrong like that, Chris Armstrong is a good person.

This remains one of the most bizarre stories I've heard in awhile. I still think Mr. Shirvell has emotional problems and maybe this student just served as a outlet for them.

It sounds like the Attorney General does not consider Shervill as a person of authority....

Shirvall never really did give an answer as to why he is doing this to Armstrong

Good for him for speaking out. You can tell he doesn't really like being in the national spotlight. He can help alot of people with his courage.

He kind of acts like it, doesn't he Karoline?! Or even younger, more immature than that.

Mr. Shirvel, your tactics are just all in the name of "political campaigning" ??? Sounds more like bullying to me... SHAME on you! This is a horrible example of schoolyard bullying that so many young people have to experience... but from a grown man? SHAME!!!!!

Had Chris Armstrong had thoughts of suicide?
Glad that he's speaking out! I think that he will help many.

I think Chris Armstrong has shown great leadership under severe pressure. What more do people want in a leader?

I can't understand how Mr Shirvell can say that he doesn't know Chris Armstrong and yet he seemed to have so much radical and hurtful information that he put out there on his blog about him.

Gloria, there are always some really angry or fearful people who push those limits, aren't there? And hide behind something 'big', like the 1st Amendment, as their shield.

Good to see you tonight Nicole!
Looks like another great show. Hope you can be here for Fridays show too.

I'm very disappointed in Governor Granholm. 🙁
As a female, I had much respect for her. I think that she has accomplished much. For her to be so silent on this issue, is disappointing.

It's all well and good with the 1st Amendment, but please, learn to show respect in speech.

    Hi Anderson and everyone,

I am aghast that an asst. attorney general can get away with these actions. Does Shervill still think he's in college?

  24. Emily

    @Anne,
Mike Cox is leaving office in a couple of months; he's not running for re-election. Why do you think he has not taken any action?

I wonder too, Libby, but it may be part of his employer's policy 'until proven guilty'. I'm thinking that if they didn't pay him and he thoughts they should, he'd go after them next!

In regards to the Mich. State student targeted: I am from Michigan and am appalled the an assistant in the Attorney General's office of all places would be the one who has done these things...and our Attorney General says this is okay under free speech?!! Shocking, unbelievable. I would like to see Mike Cox out of office.

Great questions Anderson! Make him accountable!!!
