Has former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gone too far?: Join the Live Chat

Has former House Speaker Newt Gingrich gone too far? Comments he made this past weekend about President Obama have some of his fellow conservatives crying foul. Among other things, Gingrich accused Obama of having a “Kenyan, anti-colonial” agenda and worldview.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

The infrastructure in this country should be monitored better anyway... Think about it and how easy something like that could have been done by terroists? POTUS is emphasizing infrastructure for a reason......

Response to Gingrich’s statement about the anti-colonial mindset of President Obama.

Who is going to buy this analysis? Perhaps the uneducated masses marching to the drum of the Tea party propaganda. First of all, President Obama was born in the US, he was raised by his white mother and grandparents and he only saw his Kenyan father once in his life.

According to Gingrich, Obama's world-view is shaped by an anti-colonial mindset. I guess, Gingrich suggests that a colonial mindset is more appropriate. Wow! Not surprising for a white right-winger, who benefits from belonging to the mainstream colonial power elite.

Upon reflection, it is clear that Native Americans (Indigenous peoples of the Americas) are slowly becoming conscientizised to the fact that for too long they have internalized a colonial mindset, which has kept them in their place (reservations). A decolonized worldview would benefit all people, but for that to occur, the masses would have to become educated about the colonial history on the American continent.

Anti-colonial thinking is the opposite of colonial thinking, so Mr. Gingrich, you certainly have shown your true colors by this mindless babble. I give you this, you have a colonial mindset and it obviously reflects the worldview of your white immigrant ancestors.

The 'underwear bomber' has alot of homework to do if he is going to represent himself in his court case!

I commend the boy with spinal bifida on doing what he likes regardless of physical abilities, but, ouch!

Just as I have no real problem with churches built near places where Christians have committed atrocities (gasp) or Catholic churches near playgrounds, I have no problem with the mosque. And I just don't believe those polls they come up with.

Is it possible that opposing this mosque so vehemently is considered insulting to the victims of the same plot on 9/11 who died at the Pentagon? I wonder how their families feel, knowing that when an interfaith centre was dedicated within the Pentagon, only 1 year after 9/11, everyone was quiet then but now they are outraged for the victims and their families with the building of an interfaith centre/mosque 2 blocks away. Please know I am not expressing my personal feelings here.

Newt Gingrich is just another radical politician trying to tear @ the fiber of this President & continuing to plant & spread fear in the minds of his followers.

given some of the estimates regarding the amount of oil the deep horizon well-site contains, there is no way that well will ever be sealed for good – they WILL be back for that oil

If all the gas lines are under houses, roads, etc. How do the companies check them for regular maintenance?

    September 13, 2010 at 10:52 pm |
  26. Sharon

There should not be any religious building at or near ground zero, there were just as many Catholics, Baptist, and other religious beliefs represented by the victims that died that day, as Muslims that died in the towers, to have one religion put a structure there is wrong.

It's interesting that they have PSA commercials for the gas companies that say if you smell gas then to call the company. I wonder how many people called the company before this fire happened?

The infrastructure in our country should be concerning to all Americans. The people living in the area of this deadly explosion must be living in fear of not knowing if this will happen again in their area.

Oh I agree, Kaytee...if reporters are allowed in locker rooms, then that should play both ways. It seems obnoxious to me, though. I think players should have the locker room be a place not to have the camera and mike floating around, much less in their face (or elsewhere!) How rude that practice seems to me.
