Buying Access in Washington: Join the Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Some of the biggest names in Washington, Democrats and Republicans are taking money, unlimited amounts of money, from big companies with business before Congress. We're keeping them honest. Plus, under pressure from law enforcement in many states, Craigslist removes their adult services section. You'll hear from the CNN reporter who Craig himself about the ads.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Are all escort service ads ok? Is it not a problem for a national website to possibly be facilitating prostitution?

Is website like a phone or more like a publication?

I didn't know there are sharks that swim in fresh water.

    Good night everyone.

Thank you & good night Anderson & Team 360. I wish you all a safe and pleasant tomorrow, thank you again for a great show tonight.

Good night All. Terrific blog as always. I wish you all a safe and pleasant tomorrow.
I am genuinely concerned about the planned Koran burnings and agree with our Generals, that it could really endanger our troops.
America is not the world's police and these burnings are dangerous.

It would seem more productive for the Florida church to create a discussion group on the Koran–rather than burn it.

who started this quran/koran burning church, and how long have they actually been around? it seems kind of convenient that they are non-denominational – no specific religion to retaliate against (aka blame). is that what "freedom of speech" has come to mean? the saddest part of this demonstration is that this is what the world will think of America the Great – as this will surely make international headlines. which sadly may be the point.

Thanks Jeffrey Toobin for explaining censorship. True. Craigslist did censor themselves, self-imposed to make a statement.

Still thinking through the correlation of the internet and the telephone company. I think a separate telephone call between two people is just that between two people, but the internet ad is seen by several people to include children.

I am glad that owner is off the list by Craiglist....... I am not happy what he have done to women and girls for sex.... I would have block him anytime.

Craigslist set themselves up for a fall by stating that they would monitor this site and report to law enforcement. Law enforcement says they have yet to receive a single report.

Although I agree the adult service section should be banned on Craigs List,,its not going to stop underage prostiution or child trafficking and there are all kinds of web sites on the internet that do the same thing.

  21. Heather - Spokane, WA

Just because craigslist put a censored label on their website does not mean that people will not get their sex ads on there. They will advertise on other links, the company just needs to take responsibility and do what they say they are going to do or otherwise close down the site

Frankly, I think this Craigslist story is much ado about nothing.,

I am delighted to see Craig's List rescind their adult services section. It's about time

I don't know how Craig's List could possibly feel "targeted", that's rediculous!

I commend CNN's reporter for her tenacity.

    Hello David Gergen,
I agree with you, I will have vote best Democrats than Republicans did...... I hope we will find out who wins on Nov. I think I hope I will find out how we are doing as politics as usually.

Craigs List IS being singled out. But I thought ads were free on Craigs List.

Bottom Line: Government has no business regulating our bodies or what we do with them, let alone infringing on our freedom of speech. LESS Government, not more regulation. Focus on crimes where there are actual victims.

it would be interesting if one were able to obtain a listing of the questionable telephone numbers of ads from the currently-closed craigslist section and identify where these numbers started appearing – would that be the 'new' Craigslist questionable location?

Craigslist thinks it being unfairly criticized!? What is the owner on???

Was very glad to hear about the closure of the adult services link on Craigslist; however, why was it replaced with a "CENSORED" link instead? Does it go to an alternate site? Hmmm...something sounds fishy.

But doesn't the President need to take on the arguments made by a chief critic during these elections? Makes sense for the political dialogue. There's supposed to be a discussion of some sort even in political ads.

Even with a tropical storm there's still a lot ot be alert to. Is Hermine coming north at some pt?

I live in the Minnesota 6th District and just saw your report on the congressional race between Bachmann and Clark. I've been watching Bachmann for years, who always runs negative races against her opponents. She never states in any of her ads or newsletters what she does for her constituents. She's more interested in appearances on conservative talk shows. Where are the jobs Michelle? We're still waiting for them here in Minnesota's 6th district!

A happy labor day to all at AC 360
I know the democrats are nothing to write home about, but the working people will gain nothing by voting for republicans. And why, pray tell does christianity and gun control get bundled together? A true christian wants peace and less weapons, not more. These republicans seem to know how to make believe they are for the people when that is so far from the truth.

I'm trying to think of any comment I could make about the church burning the Korans. It is beyond stupid. And so hateful and potentially damaging. Also it's just embarrassing that Americans would do such a thing.
