Apparently in Rep. Johnson's world, it's who you know and not what you know.
Even is she really didn't know the rules for the scholarship, it was an obvious unethical decision. She showed favoritism for her relatives and unfortunately students who were actually in her district were unfairly overlooked. She claims to take responsiblity, but her apparent denial and ignorance on the matter doesn't proves otherwise.

Do you think if you owed that money to the IRS they would consider it "petty"? Don't forget it was not just one time, they lied repeatedly year after year.

When I saw this tape of Jan Brewer earlier today I thought maybe she was having a stroke??? What was wrong with her?? Was she having a breakdown?
How can the Texas rep claim she made a mistake. She was negligent and to say that you are sorry is not good enough. Someone in this scandal clearly lied. How can a public figure not know the rules. It is completely unbelievable and she is clearly not telling the whole truth, which is not surprising with the level of honesty that these public officials display.
This is a perfect example of Ms. Johnson absoluty disconnected from reality...She needs to go..She embarrassed herself.
It's sad that generally nice people like Rep. Johnson have to become criminals to get ahead in life during hard times in order to help herself and her family. That is no excuse though, she should be punished accordingly.
Just because someone is able to "make" a kid doesn't mean they are competent to care for one.

It was a mistake from her part. To resign or even fire her is a little too ludicrous, and also she apologized. This action from herself is pretty common from politicians in this day in age and it needs repair.

Berrnice Johnson is a liar, and a thief, and so are her family members. She knew exactly what she was doing. She is playing the "DUMB" card. She should be locked up with hard criminals because of the horrible influence to her horrible children.

Why do politicians think they can commit a fraud and all they have to do is apologize and "move forward"?

I think you need to have a debate between Rep. Louis Gohmert and Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson to see who is the better stone waller. That was the most ridiculous evasive interview I have seen since Rep Gohmerts.

a good quote comes to mind "be the change you wish to see". Just another corrupt public official who until "outed" feels that they did nothing wrong. Our government is in a whirlwind and she feels that its a small part of her job, well, get it together ITS STILL YOUR JOB!
She doesn't have the time to be accountable. She may have put her grandchildren and other relatives of staffers in a very precarious position of having falsified a document. Don't know what may lie ahead for them let alone her. The voters in Texas will take care of her.
Way to ask her the tough, ethical questions. There is no way the forms are simply "missing" from her office or that none of her relatives knew what they were signing. Public officials should have to take an ethics course before entering office for the American people!

With politicians like Rep. Johnson it's no wonder this country is in the state it's in. It's disgraceful. The ppl of TX hopefully have the smarts not to re-elect her.

Good evening Anderson and fellow bloggers! Rep. Johnson admits her mistakes but seems to not get the idea that she did wrong as evidenced by Anderson's questions. Lies upon lies always confuse liars as they don't remember the prior lies.

Did Anderson say that the Black Caucus gave each of its members $10,000 per year for scholarships? If the total amount of these scholarships per representative is only $10,000 and one-third were improperly given by the Congresswoman, it seems like a petty action on her part. Second, where did the money come from? Was it taxpayer monies, or did it come from contributions received by the CBB for scholarsip purpose?
Yes, she was quite lax in applying the scholarship rules, but it the issue being overblown?
