An Iowa woman was arrested Saturday after allegedly having a 12-year-old girl drive her and her three young children on a road trip, police said.
Melissa Garcia, of West Liberty, Iowa, was charged with operating a vehicle without owner’s consent and child endangerment, the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office told CNN.
According to the Iowa City police department, officers were called to a report of a fight in progress in a parking lot Saturday night. During the course of the investigation, the officers learned that Garcia allegedly allowed a 12-year-old child to drive her and her children, ages 3, 2, and 1, from Nichols, Iowa to Iowa City, in a minivan, police said. The distance between the two locations is about 21 miles.
In addition, police said the 3 toddlers were unrestrained in the vehicle and apparently were not in car seats.
Garcia is currently being held at the Johnson County Jail on $5,000 bail.

It's sad when you have to have a license to fish, hunt, ect, but anyone can be a parent. 🙁
My goodness! They were unrestrained in the vehicle AND were not in car seats! That must be twice as bad!!!
