Pakistan crisis a 'slow-motion tsunami,' UN chief says

The death toll from massive floods in Pakistan rose to 1,497 on Friday as U.N. chief Ban Ki-moon said the crisis is a "slow-motion tsunami" that is expected to grow.

The number of homeless as a result of flooding has doubled to 4 million.

Ban urged the international community to give more aid during a special fundraising meeting Thursday night.

"Make no mistake," he said. "This is a global disaster, a global challenge. It is one of the greatest tests of global solidarity in our times."

    Anderson, maybe you can clarify this on the show... but given the current political state Pakistan finds itself in (documented proof of harboring of terrorists) how can anyone lending a hand/money to the flood efforts KNOW without a shadow of a doubt that those dollars will actually go to the aid of these people and not just into the hands of organizations or government officials who, in all practicality, are on the opposite side of the aisle versus many of us... along the lines of their stance against/for turning over and stopping terrorists/organizations.

    The level of ignorance of americans in general still amazes me. You are still asking yourselves what the religion is of your president? My question to you is: have you seen the president swear the oath on a BIBLE??? The answer is obviously YES!!! If the president was a muslim, then he had tou swear on the holy quran.
