I feel that too much is made of the so called "N word ". Anytime a white person says it, lookout, here comes a bunch of blacks led NY Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson. Spend time with blacks and you'll hear a lot of the N word. I'm getting tired of having blacks pushed on me every time I turn around. Like sports, politics, police force, media and then there are the stupid white run media who are being used by these blacks to crucify any white that says or makes mention of the dreaded N word. This country is screwed up. I'm pretty damn sure there is no law against saying the N word and there are a lot worse words being used out there and a lot of blacks are guilty of using them. The media perpetuates racism by continuing to keep it alive in print and through TV
Re: Laura Schlesinger. A self appointed "Dr." making inappropriate comments, and not practicing Random Acts of Kindness needs education on the practice of respecting others. Self-centerdness is not a pretty thing. I hope one day she softens those hard edges. Life is too short to live that way.
What's new. Don Imas etc. We need to get over it..but like she said black comics use it on TV all the time. Black people use it all the time. It has really lost it's sting.. a term of endearment from black to black but whites cannot say it.. Welcome to America. Most Africans are confused.. and i am an African who has tasted mean spirited whites using the term in Washington D.C.. Can we move on?
After listening to Dr. Laura's now famed conversation regarding the "N" word, quite honestly I'm not sure what she really had to apologize for. Let me be clear, I am no Dr. Laura fan. She is far too conservative for me......but she simply said the word.....multiple times yes, but she just said the word. She didn't direct it to anyone in particular. I ask that if one culture of people can freely use it and not be shunned by society for doing so, then why is it not alright for others to use it too? It personally is not a word I keep in my vocabulary, but believe strongly that "we've" given that word too much power.
I have really come to admire Anderson, and all that he has done and continues to do to enlighten his viewers on issues that we all should care about. Yet I was disappointed to see Al Sharpton on the program last night. Is there nobody else to 'go to' regarding race in this country other than him? It's come to the point where if I see Al Sharpton on a program then I waste no time in changing the channel.

Dr. Laura's job is to listen to troubled callers and to give advice appropriate to the situation. Her job is NOT to make social commentaries. Jade did not ask for an opinion about race relations or inter-racial marriage. She was speaking about a specific aspect of her relationship that made her uncomfortable. Dr. Laura should have only addressed that issue. Furthermore, Dr. Laura's argument that comedians often use the "n" word is ridiculous. Viewers watch certain comedians KNOWING they are provocative and politically incorrect. Dr. Laura may feel she has the expertise to speak on sensitive issues specific to particular races and cultures, but all I heard was her ignorance in this area. I hope Dr. Laura personally contacted Jade to apologize for her offensive remarks.
being a person of mixed heritage, i'm 1/64 black, i think the whole matter of using the n-word is totally misleading. it can't be okay for people of color to use it and for others to be taboo. that makes no sence at all. if it's wrong to use it then it's wrong for everybody. until we all reach that conclusion we'll all remain separate. and that's the unfortunate truth of the matter. george carlin said it best, "there are no bad words only bad thoughts"
Give me a break, Al Sharpton I have black relatives, I'm white, and you are attacking this lady who was just making a point. My black relatives are terrible using the "N" word and so are their friends, they don't care, to them is no big deal. Go hang out at the malls, you will hear blacks use it all the time and in vulgar ways. So, lets not be hypocritical.
I agree she was out of line but why do you have to let Al Sharpton put his 2 cents into the discussion. I would have a heart attack if he ever came to the aid of someone that was not of color.
I am not exactly sure whether "Dr." Laura is a psychiatrist or a psychologist, but as a PhD in psychology myself I am appalled at how she handled that whole situation. Psychologists are supposed to be empathic to someone who they are listening to and trying to help.... she displayed the exact opposite. Furthermore, it almost sounded like she was enjoying how upset the caller was getting.... but yet she kept using that despicable word. I don't care in what "context" she said she was using it, anyone who wasn't born under a rock would have to know that this particular word is emotionally charged and just plain ugly. SHAME on you "Dr." Laura.... you are a disgrace to those who use psychology to help people. You seem to get off on showing how "superior" you are over others when in reality you are a pathetic soul.
