Mr. Cooper you are the Best. Please keep on digging for proof.
Riddle and Gohmert are from another Planet.

I can tell how fair and balanced you select the comments you think are appropriate. The ratio is
an example of how you chose comments that agree with your point of view.

It's clear Jefferson was wrong. All men are not created equal. In America ,however, if you yell loud enough and long enough you can overcome your deficiencies and be evelated to judge or even US Rep.

Great job on this issue, Anderson. Thank goodness someone is starting to question these nut jobs instead of just reading the press release.

And to anyone who thinks "terror babies" is a viable plot: the investment is just too high for such a modest return. Just recruit disenfranchised Americans and you don't need to spend 20 years raising a suicide bomber.

And in case you've all forgotten, Condi Rice and GW Bush were presented with information by the CIA that terrorists were planning an attack using American airplanes, and the FBI reported on suspect individuals taking flight training but skipping the landing portion. They chose to ignore it and focus on a missile shield instead (on 9/11, Condi was scheduled to give a talk on missile shield technology, as a matter or fact).

That was hard to watch. Anderson did great in dealing with the rambling man. I hope everbody understood his point of view. I mean it was so clear and concise. He just made Texans and republicans look bad, or worse depending on your opinion.

Anderson, seriously the Consitution was written a couple of hundred years ago. The assults America faces were never a part of our founding Father's mind frame. Terror babies be it fact or fiction is only a portion of an over whelmng immigration issue.

    Dear Mr. Cooper,
Thanks to sticking to your duty as a reporter / investigator. I am sad to say that Mr.Gohmert represents my family and I in the East Texas area. His rants helped him none. In my eyes he is now the terrorist. He is terrorizing the minds of other people leading them to believe something that is not factual. Show me legitimate proof and continuous research. As a previous judge I would imagine more than anything that he would know that evidence will clearly decipher what is real and what is a lynch mob mentality or an excuse to get the ball rolling in that direction. I agree he was screaming. Shame on you Louie Gohmert/preacher/Sunday school teacher/congressman!

HAHAHA!!! Oh man, Good Job Anderson!! I was listening this on XM radio, and then i watched it on the website and i laughed so hard, you should have booted this retard out of your office in the first minute, he has no proof, and you totally made him look like the idiot that he is! This is why i love watching your show Anderson!! Keep it up!!

I believe Cooper should expose the real reason why sb1070 is wanted so much by the Mayor's office. It is not for the protection of her constituents, it is greed. Expose her and her staff ties to CCA.
Privatization of the jail system. Ask her where she intends to put all the people she and the sheriff pick up. CCA already has a contract with the federal government.

Not only is this idea laughable but nothing but a work of fiction. I think that what these people are doing by continuing to talk about this is plant an idea of fear into the minds of Americans who can be easily swayed into believing almost anything, and what these people propose just sound too close to the plot to the Angelina Jolie movie "Salt."

That is my opponent, Mr. Gohmert. My name is Charles Parkes and I am running against Louie in November.
I don't understand why he didn't just answer your questions. If he has proof of this he needs to come forward before something serious happens.
This is what bothers me about politicians too many of them want to scare people and not offer a solution. We need solutions. I'm not saying I have them but I don't want to scare people without justification. I just want to see congress get together and offer solutions and ideas rather than scaring the public with accusations such as these.

It is truly impossible to guarantee protection against a terrorist attack. The world is too global. Intelligence agencies are too fallible. Bombs are too easy to make and security will always have a flaw. The best way to protect America from another devastating terrorist attack is not to build a wall along the border, or to prevent all pregnant women from entering the country, but by weeding out nutjobs like Gohmert and his ilk who spew hatred and encourage the kind of hatred that leads people to commit terror.

Conservative Republicans love to scare the american people specially on election time to gain power and to panic people when they no longer in power but remember the biggest and scariest truth ( 911) they hide from us while they were the majority in congress and having a great republican president from us and send our young men and women to die for them to make money and personal revenge.

I cant believe that these people[louie] are the ones that run our country, terror babys?REALLY I am convinced that the problem with our country are the donkeys that we the people have elected. change is a great idea but we will never get anywhere until we get tierd of this garbage. And we wonder why it is so hard to get people health care, jobs, a perscription that cost triple what it should, so we can continue to stay alive and watch this great country fall apart. This guy needs a strait jacket and a spot in the ever growing unemployment line. Anderson i never really liked ur show until the coverage you did on the gulf coast and i aplaud you for that. last nights segment has had me laughing my butt off at work all day, it is truely not funny. maybe its the terror babys that had all the wepons of mass distruction in iraq .It seems to me that common sense has just gone out the window.if you continue to let our wacko represenitives on your show people just might take notice that we are in serious trouble and if we want to fix our country we obviously need to start at the top.

This guy/interview was hilarious. I think he is related to Gomer Pyle, dumb as a brick. As far as facts, he was worse than The Iraqi Information/Misinformation minister. I would pay to watch this guy do a standup.

In all seriousness though, I think someone should think about reopening all the court cases he presided over. He may have convicted & sent someone to the death raw/chamber without any evidence. He seems to be saying, "evidence, what evidence, I don't need no stinkin' evidence".

    Two thoughts here:
I am an immigrant from a developing country. In my experience, I know most people’s intension to come to the US to give birth to babies is to provide a better future for their children, because, no matter how much complains about the US, in most people’s minds, this is still a great country to live.

If the “terror baby” theory is true, what is the best way to solve it? Continue the policy that Bush had in his 8 years in office or try to reconciliate? After all, all wars have to stop at certain point and people have to learn to live with each other. Hostility is not the solution.

    Hi Anderson,
I do not know for sure whether Rep.Gohmert was trying to prove that he is intellectually challenged or to garner support from all those right wing nuts.

However this is not all that surprising given the current mind set of this lot. Their heroes in the previous administration furthered their agenda through fear mongering , lies & half truths and the theme for this sorry lot today is racism & phobia.

Well not speaking in defense of congressman Gomer; but while in the middle east I did work with a fundamentalist muslim that hated America; however, he was sending his wife to Michigan to have their baby Laith. "Lots of his friends" had done it. Donno if she ever got her tourist visa, nor do I know if he was a radical on top of being a fundamentalist. In either case I'm in favor of changing this loophole.

I was cracking up during that entire interview. Gohmert acted like a horribly behaved child. How do people like this get elected? A fool. He is entitled to his beliefs but when he tries to make his point like that it's laughable. I live in Texas and unfortunately this idiotic mentality is not that unusual here.

Anderson - nice job keeping your cool and temper - quite the contrast to Gohmert.

New facts about Rep Gohmert's claims are about to emerge.

He has changed his story on his 'sources' at least twice.

And yes, there is video proving it. Stay tuned.

Louie Gohmert sounds crazy, but I think he's seriously dangerous. He may be sincerely frightened, but I believe he knows exactly what he's doing – it's called stirring up the base. When did this country become so terrified? Every day on talk radio I hear whiny, screechy frightened white men. We'd be in serious trouble if we had to depend on these people in a crisis. Thank God I live with a man who is rational and brave and strong. I, for one, am really tired of the fear mongering – the Louie Gohmert's will lead us over the cliff.

Really good job with this guy, Anderson. I think you're still good 😉

no doubt that baby tourism does exist. People do come here from other countries, such as the Middle East, Pakistan, and Mexico to have American Babies and then return home. I know people who have done it., but it was not for terrorism, but for a shot at a better life. Babies cannot sponsor their parents, but when a child comes of age, the parents will be sponsored by their American child to come to America. The idea of baby terrorism is laughable. Terrorists don't seem to have any problem getting student or visit visas, recruiting from exisiting American citizens or sneaking in from Canada and Mexico. We need to strengthen our borders and implement better screening for visa applicants, not doing away with the 14th amendment. I really enjoyed watching Anderson Cooper. You were very calm and collected during the whole ridiculous interview with the Texas senator. You could tell Mr. Gohmert had no legs to stand on and was trying to cover with bluster. Keep up the good work AC.

OH, and if, as many of your posts claim, that women from the Middle East are coming over to have babies and get their certificates and run, then there SHOULD BE plenty of proof to back up their arguments. So if that is the case, and it can be documented, then we fill the loop hole. But seriously, let's not not just be a hater to be a hater.

two ignorant elected officials that are very pathtic. have no facts to back up their claims. Anderson did a good job asking the right questions. How sad is it that Gohmert and Riddle come on national TV but don't have any evidence to backup their claims?

Anderson, thank you so much for sticking to your guns during last nights interview with Louie Gohmert. It is about time someone stood up to these fear mongering lunatics. They make outlandish accusations with abosolutely no proof or facts to back up their statements. Time and time again these people go unchallenged, by ANY news media, to prove their foolish statements. Finally someone (you) stood up and asked the simple question–'where is your proof" Now if we can get some of your colleagues to ask the same simple questions, maybe these people can be shown for what they are. Fools and fear mongers.

"Proof? I don't need no stinkin' proof! I know a guy who knows a guy who met a lady who told him ... I know what I know, and that's all that I want to know."

Once again, we see that right wingers rarely let reality get in the way of their hyperbolic rhetoric.

  38. Pat Roberts

Anderson, you needed to ask this Rep why a Hamas grandmother would single him out to talk to on an aeroplane and tell that her son and daughter-in-law were having babies on US soil to train them to be terrorists. This is the most absurd thing I have ever heard. Simply not credible. You did a good job trying to interview him,but it was impossible. I don't know how anyone could vote for a guy like this. It is clear that he is taking advantage of people's fears to keep himself employed. So many of our representatives are taking this tactic, I guess it worked for Palin so they are all following suit.

    August 13, 2010 at 2:04 pm |
  39. Patrick

Well done, Anderson. Gohmert is way out of line, but the tough questioning to push him for evidence is exactly what I want to see a lot more of in our media. Too often claims from our politicians go largely unchallenged. Make them show the evidence or, in this case, reveal the complete lack of it. Baseless claims should be exposed.
