I believe these teachers based on what they said makes 50 to 60 thousand a year.
The Louisiana teachers complaining are currently employed with good salaries (45-60 thousand a year with benefits, health, dental, etc.), while the teachers from the Philippines right now, August 9, 2010 at the news are still fighting for a 9,000 pesos (198 dollars) increase in 3 years. Go figure.
Why are we even hiring people from other countries to take our jobs when we are crying for work in our country. Our country is so screwed up!!
AC360 would be doing us all a favor to "dig deeper" into the corruption in the Baton Rouge School District.
Sad piece! Being from the Philippines myself this really caught my attention. How are these 2 ladies doing now? Any way that you can assist with gettng us connected. I might be able to help. Thanks for the assistance.
This is just the tip of the iceberg. Why would we even need teachers from out of this country when hundreds of teachers were fired after Katrina in New Orleans? CNN, dig deeper, there is much more to Education Corruption in Louisiana. Don't believe the hype. There's an even bigger scandal in New Orleans for any news organization willing to work to uncover it.
