If someone is determined to abuse marriage for tax evasion, they don't need gay marriage, they can do that now. Why would a straight person (or any person for that matter) pretend to be gay married if they can pretend to be straight married and still avoid taxes.
It's nice to provide the actual ruling online. But isn't this document something like 136 pages? Will people actually read this through? Does anyone have that much free time?
Perhaps a bullet point type summary, of the main provisions of the ruling document might be a good idea for CNN to provide online..
People want to cling to the constitution on certain matters, such as the same sex marriage issue. However, when it suits them, they're OK with changing the constitution...children of illegal immigrants born in this country being denied citizenship.
where do we go from here and what other type of sexual orientation or attraction do we allow??
Way to go!! Equality of all.
Same sex marriage will continue to be a wedge issue that will promote higher voter turnout in elections where the electorate is otherwise oblivious.
@Augsbee ...because a man and woman never get married for tax reasons...great point.
The only problem I have with same-sex marriage is that Heterosexual persons will use same-sex marriage as a way of getting out of paying in a higher tax bracket, gain benefits, qualify for benefits as a family, etc... when in reality the marriage is phony, the relationship does not exist between 2 guy friends or 2 women friends. I think same-sex marriage is a dangerous law that can bring about much illegal behavior, actions from Hetersexual persons abusing it.
Otherwise, I don't see why gays, lesbians shouldn't marry the one they love just like we have the desire to marry the one we love.
