Arizona's new immigration laws went into effect today and sparked protests that are still going on tonight. We'll have all the angles. Plus, Congressman Charlie Rangel can't make a deal to avoid a potentially embarrassing public trial. He's facing 13 ethics charges. We'll talk it over with CNN's Jeffrey Toobin and Gloria Borger.
Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

I don't think she was out of line about anything she said about Breibart. He is definitely working with those who only want to divide us!
She has every right to be angry and to her opinion!
Re: Arizona's immigration problem; I don't hear about any employers getting arrested for hiring illigals.
Why did Obama, the USDA & the NAACP all want her fired? The NAACP had the entire video. Why do we not hear from the woman in the gov't who told her she would have to resign? There's more to this story than a youtube video by a conservative blogger.
Amazing that this guy Breitbart uses Shirley in a video to promote his agenda, it backfires on him, AND she's the bad guy??
Maybe we could gain some perspective by somehow taking a walk in eachothers shoes
Just because you can't find the oil in the Gulf, doesn't mean it's gone. WE all know it will emerge on the beaches. Is BP going to sneak away under the cloak of a new "American CEO"?
Sharrod serves at the pleasure of the President. Period
You just know that Jan Brewer's Immigration Law is not policically motivated.
If John McCain had won and was President this Law of course Jan would have gone ahead in this manner timed to take affect 4 months before the November Elections.
NAACP is the biggest culprit in the Sherrod mess. Yes that breithart person did her wrong, but it is to be expected that wat is the norm nowdays with right and left wing extremists. I can see the whitehouse point of view but the NAACP none.
@Larry,
"She needs to sue the NAACP for making the tape available to Breibart."
Was that tape private property? or could anyone access the NAACP tapes? [not counting editing them for your own purpose(s)]
well if a person says what they mean and mean what they say that is usually a good thing, isn't it?
Good evening, people....late. It does sound as if virtually no one can be trusted....even people who at first seem 'on the right side' of things so often seem to be revealed as much less so. No wonder people grow so cynical with leaders and public figures. It seems to happen even without first putting people on a pedestal, as Americans are often accused of doing ('only to tear them down', it usually goes.) Sherrod is not anyone I have put on a pedestal, and I take no pleasure in seeing her seem to be growing a certain 'tarnish' now...but I do get the feeling she has enjoyed the limelight quite a lot, which undermines my trust in her.
Well, the spill looked really bad. We all may have underestimated the effectiveness of technology.
Several legislators in PA have been arrested and convicted lately- one guy just went to jail for 6 years!
Absolutely unreal and so sad that we cannot keep our troops remains in order. what a disgrace
I cannot even believe there is a mess in Arlington! How simple is it to bury someone with the correct name?
I find it very interesting that many suspicious hires especially in high positions have not been investigated. Why now?
Well I am not surprised. Taken out of context or not, Mr. Sherrod's words speak for themselves.
I'm sure Andrew Breitbart saw this coming.
Mr. Cooper...apology accepted! Very professional of you! That's why we watch AC360!
You go Shirley!! Can you blame her?? Her whole life was turned upside down by this. I don't know whether a law suit will be successful or not but I can't blame her for wanting to do that.
I have to say though that I also wondered why they hired her after she sued them.
There is just something else they are not telling about this Sherrod case~ We don't know everything yet.
Oh boy!!!!!! Not good news for me hear Charlie Rangel is big trouble now broke the rules, he didn't pay his taxes, What was he thinking???????
I think everyone coming into the United States should have to show some kind of ID. Ive been listening to the show tonight and a woman mentioned that the illegals get welfare and food stamps why should they get it when alot of Americans who have lost their jobs can't. I think you should stop immigration all together, then their will be more jobs for the Americans.
Can illigal aliens actually vote in our country? Why are the politicians going after the hispanic vote? They have been talking about the 12 million illigals for the past 20 or more years. I can't imagine the real numbers that are here. This year's census was really a farce. You know the illigals weren't counted.
Anderson, I love your honesty in reporting and admitting areas to better yourself. That's why we tune in each night because we know you work very hard to present these stories. It just makes you a better journalist all around.
I did wonder why you didn't jump on Sherrod's slavery comment at the time, because you are usually very vigilant on that sort of thing. You are very very excellent at your job and I'm not surprised that you would check her on that comment if you interview her again. Keep up the great work!
I would sure Breibart too! You cannot say that you did not pinpoint a certain person and put that certain person in a way that would make them look like that and say that you did not mean it. I don't care who you are or who you think you are, you do not do that to anyone!
How can illegals be above the law?
I wish that you would have challenged her on that statement too...
It was way out there... (just one mistake, you don't make them often!)
Breitbart should be sued for putting out an edited video. The Fox News network should be penalized for airing it with it without investigating it first. Kudos to CNN for running the entire segment!
You are right Anderson, you didn't challenge Sherrod about that comment. I don't think everything has come out about her yet.
Oh please, enforce the laws that are already on the books! Don't we all have to carry registration for our cars? What's the problem with carrying your immigration papers? You can buy a holder at office depot,. Quit your complaining and follow the laws or leave!!! Here, Here to the Arizona Governor!!!
The federal goverment is not inforce the immigration law at the boader with Mexico. There are many reasons. My questions is what will be the next set of laws the federal goverment will not inforce putting citizen at risk of who know what. Hey what about the federal goverment allowing the failure of the banks and Wall Street securties firms.
She needs to sue the NAACP for making the tape available to Breibart.
As well, she should sue the woman who told her that she had to resign because she was going to be on Glen Beck that night.
Yes! Shirley Sherrod is suing against Andrew Breitbart what he had done to her, I am supporting her all the way..... She is not racism at all.
Pres should have the military on border with fence it is their job national defense especaily when cartel war goin on
Thanks Anderson.
Thank you for your honestly in pointing out the double standard of the Democrats in reference to the Rangle scandle! If this was a Republican they AND the media would would be screaming to high heaven! Truth in media is long OVER DUE!! Thank you!!!
I think we would be naive to think Sherrod has not enjoyed the attention, particularly the call from the President. I wouldn't say she is taking the high road.
I hear alot about the rights of the illegal immigrants but I hear nothing about my rights as a legal citizen to work, pay taxes, support my family and provide for our future. I cannot afford to subsidize every family that is taking advantage of the welfare system while not paying into it. Free food, free healthcare, free education, is not free. The rest of us pay for it.
Also while we are at it, how about the illegal's that are cited for various criminal violations and still allowed to stay in our country. My daughter was hit by a illegal immigrant that was driving drunk, running from another hit and run accident he just had, instead of arresting him he was released from the hospital the next morning with no charges. He had previously been charged with a felony of falsified government documents and yet it was dropped to a misdeamonor and given probation....
"Good ethics go a long way!"
Sherrod is suing...What are her odds are being successful given the outcome of what happened to her?
Let's deport Charlie Rangel... He's taking advantage of the system and not paying his taxes...
Gloria was right. There seems to be a sense of entitlement and your guard goes down thinking you can do anything you want.
I really don't know why no one ever mentions what Americans have to go through just to live here and spend money and open businesses or at least try to.Most of them give up due to the process. We get stopped only because we have Texas license plates and then pay 200 pesos. But we love Mexico and wouldn't want to live any where else .I just would like to see more in the States the same rules.Trust me it costs a lot to get a retired FM 3 status.
Restpectfully
Kristine
The reason that the American citizens are against the illegal immigrants is that those illegal immigrants are taking benefits without paying taxes. However, they should realize that the illegal immigrants are a huge part of the American economic. Therefore, I think fixing the immigration law should be prioritized. By giving them a chance to be a member of American society and pay the taxes, everyone will be satisfied. Passing a ridiculous law won't help anyone.
Why would the human smugglers attack someone they are being paid to help? It's not that hard to understand why people in Arizona are deeply concerned about illegal immigration.
Those men looking for work, do there employers pay soc. sec for their labor?
Is it true that Mexico also has lost manufacturing jobs to other countries?
In regards to States that are Boycotting Arizona such as California. How about instead of deporting the illiegals caught in Arizona – we just drive them to California and drop them off at the doorsteps of LA's City Hall. I'm sure they won't mind. California can deal with them or better yet give them jobs and free government aide. Don't American's have to show a passport if asked, as identification when traveling outside the U.S.?
