Ariz. Immigration Law Takes Effect: Join the Live Chat

Arizona's new immigration laws went into effect today and sparked protests that are still going on tonight. We'll have all the angles. Plus, Congressman Charlie Rangel can't make a deal to avoid a potentially embarrassing public trial. He's facing 13 ethics charges. We'll talk it over with CNN's Jeffrey Toobin and Gloria Borger.

I think that the Sheriff Of Phoenix should be punished, why I say that is he says he is still going to look for illegal immigrants even after the judge has blocked that part of SB1070. I feel he is wrong and if he does do that then he needs to be punished. The only way he should be able to do that is ifa crime is committed and the illegal is arrested. But just to go out there just because he says so no. Does he think he is going on a fishinf trip or what?
That's so sad for former basketball dead....... my heart goes to his family. 🙁

I live in 50 miles from the border in Arizona . When folks say "illegals" don't pay taxes, it is a lie and should be corrected. They pay sales tax and can receive a Taxpayer I.D. and work authorization card from INS and they pay income, payroll, etc. tax. I was born here but know dozens of people who have been in the U.S. for as long as 30yrs. and can't even get a green card.
As usual, most people want a blanket, simple solution to a complex problem. SB1070 is bad for Arizona and there are many of us here who are against it.
