Tropical Storm Takes Aim at Gulf: Join the Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Forecasters warn Tropical Storm Bonnie is headed for the Gulf. We have the breaking developments on what this means for the BP oil disaster. Plus, Shirley Sherrod gets an apology from Pres. Obama.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

@Heidi Berg I don't quite understand. Taking Mr Breitbart to court would prolong the matter about that you're right. Not taking going to court off the table though is a way of holding him accountable.

Following the link of communication btwn the admin and the dept of agriculture looks difficult.

Need to verify the undue influence with Mr. Megrahi's case.

Good thing the cap is in place as that Hurricane is headed right for the well.

Yes looks like feeding a pelican takes very gentle handling.

    Good night everyone.

Good night everyone. Good blogging. I hope Mrs. Sherrod sleeps well and takes her time making any decisions about her future. She needs to rest and recoup from this.

BP has lied about absolutely everything. Why do we believe the seepage is conveniently coming from another well? Why dont we have our own ROVs down there examining the situation for ourselves? We are still trusting everything they say. This is amazing.

Will these pelicans after they are released return to the same area where they were released or where they were captured? Stay dry in the gulf. Good night all.

I really think CNN should focus on the Lockerbie extremist's release and expose all those involved in that extremist's early release. I know it probably would never happen, but I'd love to see that guy back behind bars, where he belongs!

Once again, thank you to Anderson Cooper for a very insightful and though-provoking show. 🙂

Yes, the oil has not connected with the gulf currents that travel up the Atlantic.

It's the big challenge, lisal-not to let the 'negativity' get you down. It doesn't help the cause one bit, does it?!

    Good night, people....rest well.

@ Merl: No oil in the Florida Keys. Therefore the oil did not wrap around Florida and head up the east coast. So far so good. Only mild oil in the Panhandle.

Are we ever going to know the real amount of oil barrels that leaked into the gulf these past 90 days or so. With Bonnie coming that probably isn't going to happen now. I would of liked to know the amount leaked.

These tropical storms are certainly affecting this entire operation. Had this disaster occurred at another time of the year, there would be less disruption on the operation due to weather, but we all knew it was coming. Luckily, there have only been a couple so far (Hurricane Alex and now TS Bonnie).

Good night everyone! Have a great weekend.

One mile deep how about 1000 feet deep that oil has settled close to shore .

Our friends in the gulf, I hope and pray for you that this storm, or any other, does not bring oil into your lands and houses.

Lets not make the same mistake of Lockerbie w/ the Sherrod case. Keep asking questions and follow the money. Look at Vilsack and Monsanto. We should have looked at BP in the Lockerbie case. We should have asked is there any corporate motivation to let this guy go? That should always be the 1st question.

    July 22, 2010 at 10:51 pm |

I'm fearful of this storm upon the Gulf...
