Princeton, New Jersey (CNN) - President Obama's supporters have been frustrated about the apparent paradox of this administration. With the recent passage of historic financial regulation legislation, many Democrats are having trouble grasping why his approval ratings still lag and why Democrats might lose control of the House in the fall elections.

Supporters say the economic stimulus bill, education and health care reform, and now financial reform, should have Americans looking at the White House with the same admiration they had for President Roosevelt in the 1930s or President Johnson at the height of his success in 1964 and 1965.

But according to a recent CBS News poll, just 40 percent of those polled approved of how the president was handling the economy. This was a drop of five percentage points since June.

Look, regardless of whether your politics are liberal or conservative; if you are honest and paying attention to what it going on – you would have to admit that Obama has far overreached his Office. There are certain fundamental principals which America was founded under and even though it is easier to see when you are educated and paying attention, even those innattentive to such details can see that Freedom, economic prosperity, speech, and the individual are all suffering from the decisions of our Government.
Some people saw this coming and voted against Obama, some people believed in what he said and voted for him. There were a few million more in the later category and so he won. It is now apparent that his speeches were a means to an end – getting elected. The guiding principals under which he operates are not what he promised. He tricked many millions of people and millions more voted because of skin color. The poll numbers were bound to go down once the light of day shined on his actions. Correct it – vote.

Agreed, I lived through the Carter admin – he makes carter look like a champion of free economics and brilliant energy policy. WOW!

The Emperor has no clothes. He says on thing and does another. The main stream media cannot run interferrence for him forever. Soon or later each little news pieces comes out how he is bent on putting us under with debt. He wants to even the score, even the playing field, redistribute wealth.

I can not believe how clueless the left wing MSM is even now. They surely must live in an myopic little world where they feed off each other.

Well Julian it's real simple to understand why the poll numbers are down, the majority of people realize these so called "historic" bills that the democrats are ramming through will kill the economy and the future of our country. It's to bad the country took so long to see through this administration, however, better late than never. I just wish you elite media dudes would do your job and investigate instead of just passing along what the Whitehouse tells you too.

Based on the opinion of my neighbors, friends, acquaintances, this is because one minute people believed Health Care was going to be free they way it was made to sound now they find out it is not free, it is mandatory, it is a tax, unlike auto insurance which if you don't drive or own a car you don't have to buy it, so people are disappointed. People were given the impression that hundreds of government jobs were going to be available, everyone was going to work for the government with lots of benefits and it hasn't happened. People were under the impression that all foreclosures were going to be forgiven, people would no longer have to pay their mortgages because the government was going to pay for it so that families could stay in their homes and it didn't happen that way. Green Technology would immediately have hundreds of jobs available also, it hasn't happened.
If anything we have teachers, police officers, firefighters, city workers hoping to keep their jobs and more schools are shutting down.

I'm actually shocked it's as high as 40%
Really shows how many people are blinded by their politics

Our current situation makes Carter look like a good choice!
