We're tracking developments in testing of the new cap on the broken oil well. Plus, new details about how few claims BP has paid to people in Gulf and tonight's other headlines.

Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

This is a great interview here, Anderson. Glad you spoke with them Anderson...they are heroes, and I hope that they know it! 🙂
These 3 men are going to be bonded forever, over this.
I really hope that they are not going to be blaming themselves, they will not keep thinking that they should or could have done more.
Many would not have done that much!
I wish them all the very best. So glad to hear that the one went and got help from his MD.
Thank you and good night Anderson & entire Team 360 for another excellent news show tonight! I wih you all a safe and pleasant tomorrow.

Good job Anderson, Keep going research what you have keep them honest! 🙂
I think that these men did all that they could do.
Usually consultants bill at a rate that is approximately 2 1/2 or 3 times their rate of pay. The additional cost covers overhead such as errors and omissions insurance, taxes, electricity, etc. Scientists are not making that much.
By the way: sorry for my terrible spelling tonight.
it is so good to see the ac360 team continuing to focus on the gulf. i suspect that even now there is more damage that exists than can actually be physically seen. in both the gulf itself and the people who find comfort there and call it home. nite. pleasant dreams.
@Starr Thanks I didn't see that intvw earlier today. I guess the fact that the pressure is static or contained enters into how they figure it out at this pt, but even so the pressure has to increase as they start injecting mud.
400 plus repairs what kind of repairs? Is there a basis for comparing how many repairs are needed on a rig?
Good night Anderson and bloggers! Thanks for letting me relieve my pressure.
come on Anderson, get a math guy to calculate the amount of hydro carbons that would flow thru the pipe size at the point of the presure measurement @ 6,000psi, also someone may have a good idea of the percentage of gas in the flow, giving them a breakdown of oil and gas, this wide range of estimates should be narrowed with the info available, love your show.

@Jo Ann,
"And some people say there is no such thing as a black racist!"
There is racism in every group! Those who think otherwise are only fooling themselves. Unfortunately, no one ethnicity is exempt from it.
Everyone seems in agreement that the folks who are hurt the most by this disaster will wind up getting the short end of the stick. Isn't that always the way?? You can bet the lawyers will get paid everything that's coming to them.
$250/hour is $500,000/year – worth correcting to the audience
250x40x50=500,000
Sue,
You're welcome.......... Good point there. 🙂
The U.S. was given $20 billion by BP for cleanup and compensation claims. U.S. tells citizens and people involved in this disaster " take what we give you and be happy, or sue BP and government keeps money" ! Long story short, still people suffer. Environment distroyed. Another well is born.
What a great report by Randi-Kaye!
Thank God so many of our scientists refused BP. Their refusals gives me continued hope regarding eithics and the truth.
It's a bit shocking that the contract the expert witnesses have to sign is only 3 pages long. I guess it's succinct and to the point.
Isn't that typical of other expert witnesses say in criminal law...years of confidentiality, not able to write or publish for some time? What a decision for the scientists to get involved or not.
Any replacement of broken riser and flange and subsequent riser to collection at surface would have indicated the real spill rate and total oil spilled – BP after 2 days or 92 days – for the sake of avoiding fines they caused this monumental disaster ..
Replace Flange & Broken Riser Day 2 – Disaster Avoided
is not this a big story and true
once again – all that was necessary was to replace flange and broken riser.
the 12′ flange and pipe section should have been extended to surface collection.
once again – because that would have given the accurate rate of oil leaking the right thing not done – oil keeps gushing.
also this would not pressure BOP and well casing –
also would not add 100+ tons on top of listing BOP –
also would expose clearly that the “flange and broken riser pipe should of been replaced" on day 2 and this disaster avoided completely!
Please broadcast that this disaster was avoidable – there is no media print / broadcast telling this incredible story – help
Goodnight Mr. Cooper and everyone.
so they are trying to buy all the witnesses? if that is the case then they have definitely done this before and are probably quite good at it. these guys appear to have a pretty full arsenal. except this is not a 'typical' situation for anyone, including them. i have to wonder when some of their commonly used tactics will start to backfire – the only thing that is truly constant is change...
Wow, BP really is covering their backsides aren't they?
Why is the Gov. not already on top of all of this?
Why are many of those Top Scientists not working for the Gov.?
Can't the government force BP to make scientific findings public?
@ Megan,,,Thank you for explaining the static kill to me. I kept confusing it with the top kill. I've learned so much in this past few months. To bad it was through such unfortunate circumstances.
@Karoline and @ Emily Yes these are absolutely huge numbers, which is why BP is hiding the truth about the flow and using dispersants all to mitigate their damages, not the damages to the people and the environment. We-the USA-have the right to force BP to allow the measurement to put that issue to rest, in everyone's best interest.
Emily, Karoline.....
Right, Shame on Shirley Sherrod!!!!! That is good her to step down after her comment was wrong thing to say!
Starr,
I agree with you, Jeff Toobin is right too.
