I have to compliment Mr. Carvel for his comments on the BP Oil spill: his representation of and proposed responses to the spill are right on target and provide a great basis for solving the major ramifications of this horrific 21st Century disaster.
My suggestion is a simple one. Bring home our service people to help fight this war in the Gulf of Mexico. Sometimes our needs have to come first and after 71 days with no solution, our own forces should be home to do whatever they can to try and save our entire ecosystem. Dying mammals are 'indicators' that this must take priority over military actions on behalf of other countries.
Not only is this heartbreaking to watch day after day, it's obviuos that these corporate bafoons at BP are not going to remedy anything.
Obama should announce that he is taking control of this disaster, he should get his experts from any country that has exp. in oil spills and make this a top PRIORITY to get this taken care of, get it done then give BP the bill, as well as take their oil or to the queen of England along with pictures of the damage and dying animals.
this is a total disgrace and BP shouldn't be allowed to business in the U.S. when these big companies higher contractors they should be required to choose the highest service. we as a country should also get off of oil, we should be turning towards electricity, wind power etc.Larry Moe and Curly Joe could be doing a better job than British Petroleum "is" doing.
As a Senior Ecologist ,working in the state of Georgia, I am ashamed to say that I work under this current administration, It is the most basar mentality I ever witnessed. There is no question at this point to me and every one I am in contact with that BP and the President of this Country are going to distroy life as we have known it. The sad part is that this country has degraded to the point our population would put this type of person in control of human life. It is like you just bought this great used car from the crook down on the corner, who you knew you should not trust, an now you are walking.
Here we are the richest most powerful nation on earth and we can't keep the oil off our shores. I bet we can, if we pull out all the stops, screw the Jones acts and all the antiquated laws keeping all the equipment out of the gulf that can help.
Then with one single problem, Obama shuts down all the deep water rigs, putting thousands of people out of work.
Must be Obamas' political agenda to push for alternate forms of energy, just like he wont secure our border with Mexico.
I am so disgusted with our government, but I will continue to fly our flag.
We sit up here in Canada wondering how the strongest country in the world, one that takes charge of matters all over the world be they oil, or weapons related can't get it together at home for the worst disaster caused by man in maybe the history of the world. You look like a bunch of fools with your 1920 laws that are no longer relavent. Everything, and I mean everything needed should be in the gulf by now. How much oil have you picked up, maybe less than 1% in going on three months.
Not talking about the American people, we are brothers, your leaders are doing worse than anyone could have imagened. BP is poopin all over u in every way. c'mon fella's. A hurricane is going to blow that oil maybe a hundred miles inlamd. How many of u have walked out side and tasted the salt water in the rain during a storm. I fear for the whole gulf. Texas to Florida.
Why dont you just sue BP already make them pay for this disaster . I cant sleep knowing how many helpless animals are being killed in this oil. This is like watching your own nightmare why dont you just plug it stop talking about it and start fixing it talking about isnt helping very much Obama please help not just the animals but our lives can be at stake.
