The Arizona lawmaker who sponsored the state's controversial new immigration law blasted Tuesday's lawsuit by the Justice Department, saying, "The misinformation out there is outrageous."
Appearing on CNN's "Campbell Brown" hours after the suit against the state was filed, Arizona state Sen. Russell Pearce, a Republican, said, "The Obama administration simply is filing suit, a political lawsuit if you will, (be)cause they have no leg to stand on."
"They are simply trying to enforce their current policy of no enforcement and amnesty. That's what it's about. They're not worried about (racial) profiling and this bill prohibits it," Pearce said.

What is it about the word illegal that no one understands? If I did something Illegal I would be in jail. Illegal is just that Illegal aliens.
what is going on in America especialy in washingtol? what now..we reward those People who breaks the law..and punised the state of Arizona because they doin the right thing.......shame on Obama....
I guess I don't understand what all the controversy is about. As I understand it the only people that are checked are peoplewho have been arrested for doing something illegal. So how can the term illegal alien/immigrant not apply. For instance if I steal a car or an ice cream cone I have committed a crime and the police check for prior offenses and wants and warrants. Basically anything I have done in the past that is illegal. So if a person commits a crime shouldn't they be checked for illegal activities as well? Isn't illegally coming across the border a crime? Why does our president condone crime? Is he redefining the word illegal? Or perhaps redefining the word crime. May be he is becauise he gave billions to companies who in turn gave it to their executives. Don't get me wrong I don't blame Mexicans for trying to make a better life because many of them have it really tough;however, if we continue to have them flood into this country, especially in this economy we will be in the same boat they are in now – Too many people and too few jobs.
Regarding the immigration thing.....what the State of Arizona should do is simple. STOP shipping those who are rounded up back to Mexico.
Collect as many as is possible through whatever means and charter busses.....destination: Washington DC.
Once there, just let them off the bus and leave. Done. 20 busses a day (1000 people)...and in just 90 days later DC has 90,000 immigrants to deal with. It will help them to focus.
