BP remains defiant. It released a statement tonight that reads in part "The data thus far do not support the existence of undersea plumes." Yet others say the underwater plumes do exist. We're digging deeper. We'll also have the latest developments on the Gulf disaster and we're awaiting results from several primary races and a run-off race in Arkansas.

The only thing that could possibly be positive about this would be if we as a nation to begin to focus on using other sources of energy besides oil. This will be remembered as the greatest tragedy of the early part of this century and the end of the Gulf as we KNEW it. No more white sands. ever.

Tony Hayward wanted "his life back." Well, it looks like he's gotten at least part of it back. He's put someone else in charge and probably has left the country. I'm sure he sleeps very well at night and that he's enjoying his lavish life style back in Europe while we remain to salvage what we can from this massive chaos.
Hopefully, the gushing oil will be stopped soon. When it is, I'll pay particular attention to see if Tony Hayward and others from BP, Transocean, and Halliburton pay for this catastrophe or will things go back to "normal" and will the government be lax in pressing charges because of the oil lobbyists.

When I see that BP logo I think about the faces of those men in Anderson's interview and the oiled birds struggling to survive. It may not make much of a difference, but our family refuses to buy their gas.
Yes, Emily, if indeed the whole town is a shambles, I'd cancel too. Not so sure I'd do so if it was just the beaches though....but then I don't go places just to be on their beach I guess!
I wish these survivors healing and that they will rise from their pain.

Anderson, thank you for cancelling your vacation to report from Louisiana. You're really making a difference.
By not determining the flow rate of oil as indicated in the spill management handbook, isn't BP acting in a negligent manner? Also, by with holding the high definition images, were they not guilty of obstruction of justice by omission?
This is why the public is angry with the gov. – they don't seem to be enforcing a thorough attempt to stop and contain this catastrophe? This is how Obama can get his credibility back – go to the opposite extreme to force an overkill clean up effort to match destruction already imposed by the gross negligence and deceitfulness of BP.
Maybe it is time to SEIZE BP's assets until the clean up is complete and let them take the FED's to court to recover some money they feel we overspent!
Let's get a camera on the apparatus that is supposedly capturing so much of the oil coming out of the wellhead! Let's get an analysis of the product that is being pumped to the surface tanker to see what percentage of the liquid is oil and how much is water! Let's put some real pressure on BP and their support network to ignore the advice of their attorneys and start being honest with the American people. If hurricane season arrives early the product of their ignorance will be washing up on every beach North of the Equator!

Hi Nancy....I can understand all of those that feel this way, esp. if they have a family. It's really too bad, esp. for a place like New Orleans which was just getting back to 'normal' after Hurricane Katrina!
The ridiculous thing is BP' s stock went up and has not hit rock bottom
I am very grateful for the way those workers spoke out, to honour the memory of their comrades, betrayed by their employers' greed. Deep sea oil-drilling is a high-hazard job. They told us what we knew in our hearts. This is what happens when greed runs amok. May the fallen be remembered, and their deaths not be in vain!
It sounds like BP has a standing order stating "Do not tell them anything or give them (meaning anyone in the US) anything unless they ask for it"! You can not trust a thing they say. Constant either actual lying or lying by omission.
Side note regarding their 50 mil. commerical. Note the pelicans all healthy and well standing on rocks WATCHING the oil spill. As if all is well with the pelicans. Tony's Brit humor of insulting us more.

Tonight's BIG story was your crew being restricted from filming the birds being recovered. Under who's authority ? Looks like we've now lost freedom of the press as well. The media should have full access. Why is BP still directing ANY aspects of the clean-up, given their repeated lies and efforts to cover up the truth ?
The Feds need to step in and take control immediately.
Let the arrests of BP officials begin...
I'm not aware of any law that says that US Fish & Wildlife is the only ones allowed to rescue wildlife during a disaster. I strongly hope that other nonprofit wildlife rescue groups, wildlife rehabilitators and caring members of the public are allowed to participate in this wildlife rescue.
Why should the head of US Fish & Wildlife be allowed to limit the number of rescuers?! This appears to be a scandal itself! I hope people will object to this absurd behavior and insist on taking rescue boats out.

You're right, those men are traumatized. You can see it in their eyes, the blank far away stares... I sure hope they are able to get some sort of therapy for this.
BP's "priority" is safety????????? Their horrible safety record says differently!
OH great they're going to blame the middle management working guys on the rig for the safety issues rather than take responsibility at the top of the BP food chain
Wake up people – – BP does not want to stop the flow because then it would be able to be determined exactly how much oil has been escaping and then they would be fined what they actually should be fined – – – Not like it matters, we are going to pay the bill in the long run with exagerated gas prices
