I had a kindergarten student tell me today that she mixes up two students all the time...she can't tell the difference. One is white and one is black. That was so beautiful.

What is Po Brunson talking about?? It's not just young children who categorize, especially on the basis of color. ADULTS have been doing this since time immemorial!! That's how a notion of "race", the Civil Rights Movement and the Western Empire was founded. Children don't assign equal value to skin-color groups because WE don't. When was the time time YOU went for a tan, huh?

If we as parents don't wise up and teach our children about diversity they will never be able to enjoy the world around them. Color isn't just in the rainbow, it's everywhere. IMO, there is no such thing as a bad color or good color. Bad or good comes from every nook and cranny of our society. Think about it.
