Keeping BP honest on Gulf oil leak: Join the live chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

We have BP Managing Director Bob Dudley tonight and Anderson will be keeping him honest on the Gulf oil spill. Plus Sean Penn will talking about life in Haiti and testifying before the Senate today. And we'll investigate what influences children's perceptions of race.

Want to know what else we're covering? Read EVENING BUZZ

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

You always know you have a professional manipulator when they consistently use the first name of the person they are conversing with.

Good evening, people. I'm not sure that I think the rapid-fire question format is really one that can obtain the 'whole truth'. I feel a little suspicious of this form of 'questioning'...not sure it really gets to the essence of the BP (or any7 other) situation.

Anderson- I Seriously want to know How Many of the B.P. Executives we need to stuff into that pipe to stop the Oil leak? because if Our Government doesn't we who are affected just might & we are angry enough to stuff a few incumbent politicians that allowed this to happen in the first place in the pipe with the B.P. executives.

He is trying to dodge every question that's being asked! Please at least have some sincerity and say "We did mess this up"!!!

Corporate greed created the problem, as it does so many other problems.

    @Emily

Yes, i saw the bottle from the wetlands.

Quite frankly, i have to look away from most of the pictures because they disturb me so much.

When i say i am heartbroken about this spill, i really mean it.....it hurts so much.

    @Casey Jones
"Oil Companies = Auto Companies = Financial Companies. Connect the dots. It all screams greed and it's all at the expense of the American public, et al."

It's also where much of the 'power' is too. Money & power...

Anderson should have asked "Bob" why BP falsified their safety tests.

This is ridiculous. We are killing ourselves. What happens to one species happens to us also. NO Drill baby drill! We should have alternative choices.

When you look up "stonewalling" in the dictionary, it's so obvious that that's exactly what BP is doing including the representative who is on the show with you tonight. Actually, characterizing this as stonewalling is being kind.

Lets face it. BP doesn't have a solution to stop the leak.

"A small city down under..." Can you imagine how much oil is in a "small city"?

I can't understand how BP could not be prepared for something like this!
This is great questioning here by Anderson....

    Anderson,

Corporations are unbelievably talented at obtaining precise measurements using particle tracking and just about any other cutting-edge measurement technologies when profits are at stake. When they've got something to hide as BP does, they act like they are unaware of these and other measurement techniques. It's all about motivation!

good questions Anderson..why did it take too long for them to release a 30 sec video? yes, we DO want to know!

Anderson, thank you for all you do. Please ask Bob how they can pump poison through our oceans and not have a plan for error.

Obviously BP is lying about how much is flowing.Typical of humanity to destroy our mother for something we dont need.Offshore drilling should never be allowed

Please have Mr.Cooper,at the next interview, ask Mr. Dudley why no containment system is applied around the site of the spill...The attached was patented in 1985,a barge system to contain ,it is listed on an energy site, they surely know of it, and other methods, I myself have attempted to submit a similar containment system, all to deaf ears....Why do they allow the oil to travel as the winds and currents will take it, why is not contained at the area of the spill, it is a simple idea, which would stop the spread of any further release, I proposed this days ago...An opening could be placed in any system, on the upwind/upcurrent side, to allow recovery vessels, the size of the system as large as needed to allow all involved to function, skimming vessels placed outside, with booms placed inside to siphon ALL....

    Thanks much, Jeff Miller

If they knew about syphoning technique – why did they not implement that first (as it would have been successful from the beginning) and the damage would have been less...

may be because they were selfish and wanted to save as much oil as possible from the leak with a bigger dome!!!

can i sue bp for messing up american water and not giving a hoot......if this happened in england someone would be in jail...also sue haliburton and the other company involved enough talking.....if i did this at my job i wouild be fired and fined ...as they should be fined 100,000 dollars a day until they figure it out......

A person earlier today stated the flow thru a 1 inch pipe at the pressures of the 'gusher' would equal what BP is stating is coming out of its 21 inch pipe from a 6 inch well head pipe. Sounds to me like BP is really distorting the flow rate on the Oil flow gushing out.

What is BP afraid of? If this is about public opinion, could anyone's view be tainted any further by anything that they say or do?

why hasn't anyone asked, bp or a government official, why doesn't bp stop all off shore drilling until they prove compentance in responding to spills?

  36. Emily

How much oil would Bob Dudley have 'guessed' was in that water bottle verses the amount of water? That came right from 'the surface'...

It would be great in 'keeping them honest' to include the Coast Guard's Admiral today stated the tar balls in the Florida Key's 'did not come from the gusher in the Gulf of Mexico'. I dispute that 'Admiral's' claim however it should be stated to keep them honest.
