Speak Up: Using 'junk shot' to clean up oil

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2010/images/05/12/art.domeinwater.jpg caption="BP's dome plan didn't work. Think you have a better idea? Tell us below."]

Hey there, AC360° fans. We're looking for your comments on the latest in the Gulf oil spill.

BP's newest plan to clean up the oil spill is to throw garbage at it - literally. Known as a "junk shot," debris such as shredded tires, golf balls and similar objects would be shot under extremely high pressure into the blowout preventer in an attempt to clog it and stop the leak.

News of this plan reached Rep. Ed Markey, D-Massachusetts, who was less than impressed. "When we heard the best minds were on the case, we expected MIT not the PGA," Markey said. "We already have one hole in the ground and now their solution is to shoot a hole in one. We expected a lot more sophistication when it came to dealing with something of this magnitude."

Since BP can't figure out how to stop the oil spill, maybe you can. What would you do to stop the oil spill in the Gulf? Use your imagination - it looks like BP is. Send us your comments and they might be used on tonight's broadcast. Don't forget to watch AC360° at 10 p.m. ET. to see if your idea made it into the show.

I have just seen Elizabethmayo's video link on Youtube showing that "hay" the same kind of "hay" that cows eat and that you can find on farms and barns being shipped into a square shaped form CAN suck up oil I kid you not Anderson "hay" is like earth's natural SHAMWOW!!!!!!! that's how we can fix this oil spill drop thousands of tons of "hay" into the Gulf Coast so it can suck up all that oil in a jiffy or very quickly.

One company in Quebec, Canada, uses peat moss to absorb surface oil during oil spills. The technology is patented, safe, and relatively efficient. The American government would do well to turn to its allies for council. After all, this is a global crisis.

Ps this is a centuries old idea when olive oil was poured into the top of a full wine bottle to seal it from air. The oil was easily removed from the wine with straw.

Obama should put all of his critics in charge of fixing this mess, starting with Michael D. Brown.
