This is BP's mistake and they should be made to pay fisherman that are out of work and the clean up that will be needed.

Michael Brown - how silly!!! I am so tired of this partisan attitude. Can we not be Americans and work together. Such comments that Mr. Brown has made are unfounded and demonstrates his underachievement as a productive citizen.

Why waste your time interviewing Mr. Brown. We need to focus on other sources of energy. Look at the damage that is being done to our planet.
We don't need to drill at all.

It funny how Brown can talk now, but when it had the chance to speak on Katrina, he did not have anything to say!

It was great watching Michael Brown get schooled on live television. Mr. Brown's best chance of salvaging his legacy is to dip out of the spotlight, not to grab it, and I hope he's suitably ashamed of himself when he realizes how far he's fallen.

Obama is darned if he does and darned if he doesn't. And YES this is exactly why drilling needs to be phased out eventually. In the meantime, emergency measures need to be put in place so that the oil companies are fully responsible for the cleanup and capping rogue gushers. How anyoneone can blame Our president for this man made mess is pure politics.

Why , oh why, would this man who has clearly shown us who he is and what he's capable of be given an interview??

He disappeared for awhile what brought him back into the public. May be beltched up with that crude oil about to come onto Pensacola Beach suger sand beaches. Please BP close the oil well and plug Brownie up too!

Did he seriously just say Obama wants to turn us into a non carbon based society, like thats a bad thing. I dont think algea fuels kill sea turtles.

It does not matter what happens or where in the world it happens, it is President Obama's fault. What is wrong with these people?

    May 4, 2010 at 10:11 pm |
  14. Marion Denney

Whether anyone believes the administration could have reacted more quickly, it doesn't change the fact that BP had the responsibility to have a contingency plan ready for such a disaster regardless of how remote they thought the possibility was.

That FEMA guy Brown was rediculous. He didn't even want to answer Anderson's question. I don't think that off shore drilling is a good business. It's 5000 feet below the sea level for a reason. And that's just to get to the bottom of the ocean...

    May 4, 2010 at 10:11 pm |
  16. Janine Jefferson

Did he ever answer your question?

    May 4, 2010 at 10:11 pm |

Michael Brown sounds as out of touch as ever.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:10 pm |
  18. Doug Christoffersen

Why can Mr. Brown NOT answer the question open and honestly that he was asked. He was very good at evading the question and said to let him speak. AC should have cut him off completely.

  19. charlie

It is scary to see such nonsense as the Brown's statements even get airtime. Even scarier that the is a body of US citizens who are prepared to believe it. Aren't there any type of libel laws to protect against this type of thing?

    May 4, 2010 at 10:10 pm |
  20. Mike, formerly from Syracuse

This will be a double tragedy if we stop drilling. There have been rigs in the Gulf since the 1930's and almost 4,000 now. There have been two accidents of significance in all that time.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:10 pm |
  21. Mary

This Brown guy is delusional. COMPLETELY. End of story.

Are there wildlife rescue groups assembled there in the Gulf to save as many as possible? What \'s becoming of the porpoises they spoke of a few days ago? I already saw the turtles....oh dear.

    Good evening.

    Keep drilling Mr Brown Anderson.
All this talk about the oil spill blame is sounding crazier every day.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:09 pm |
  24. Dulcie - Denver

Good job, Anderson! Keep after Michael Brown.

Sheesh! Yes, President Obama is now shutting down offshore drilling rigs. Of course he is – this disaster has shown everyone that the drilling is not as safe as Big Oil claimed it was.

I think the current administration has done a good job, thus far. Yes, we have a long way to go and a lot of mistakes can yet be made, but so far, so good.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:09 pm |

Why would anyone want to interview Brownie? Or put any faith in what he says?

    May 4, 2010 at 10:09 pm |
  26. David, Indiana

Good evening Anderson, Isabel, Emily, Starr, Megan, everyone.

I thought the Obama admin was openning more offshore drilling because they thought it could be done successfully and safely. Esp NJ and FL.

Lots of political officials in FL and CA are against offshore drillling already

    May 4, 2010 at 10:08 pm |
  27. Starr, formerly known as vincent

Good evening Anderson & entire Team 360.

Hello, David, Isabel, Gabriela, Nancy, Kim, Mike, Nichole, Emily, Casey, Megan, everyone....

The gentleman speaking seems seriously out of touch with reality.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:08 pm |

A thought...Obama never lets a crisis goes to waste. Turn this oil crisis around and perhaps he hopes to pass cap and trade on the oil mess.

  31. Sharon Hastings

Good evening Anderson and everyone. It's great to be here with all of you. Well. Another conspiracy theory. And of course we're sure Michael Brown is "in with the in crowd" and knows all this. There is a huge difference in drawing attention to the dangers of off shore drilling after something bad has already happened versus wanting it to happen or hoping that it spreads further. That's a horrible thing to say. And by the way, haven't heard much from Sarah and the teabaggers lately. Certainly no cries of drill baby drill. This shut em up.

    May 4, 2010 at 10:08 pm |
  32. charlie

The reason that driling should be shut down in the US rather than other countries is because other countries have better safety requirements. Especially in the north sea deep drilling takes place in much more hazardous conditions than the Gulf. There is a standard (but expensive) requirement of "off rig" back up controis on ships. Those requirements were specifically removed from US safety requirements under industry lobby pressure.

  35. Su from Fort Lee, NJ

Brown's & Limbaugh's conspiracy theory is as nutty as the Birthers and 9/11 Bush Conspiracy...

They should instead focus on prevention and how to contain the ecological damage occuring now –
a scientist said that a hurricane of great magniture would help to disperse the oil and dispersed oil is better than coagulated oil...
isn't there any way that along the wetlands they could use high power water spray to help disperse the oil reaching shore?
Or other aerogel made booms to absorb the oil washing ashore?

Why does anyone care what heck of a job Brownie think?

    May 4, 2010 at 10:07 pm |

conspiracy theory is bunch of bull. can't those follks find something worthwhile to do with their time. volunteers are needed everywhere for everything.

  40. TonyInLargo

We can conjure-up thousands of conspiracy theories without facts, but without facts, that only means that we don't know what we're taking about.

With facts we can rid ourselves of the causes of such catastrophies, whether they be caused directly by human hands or indirectly by error or design flaw and eventually be free. The truth frees us.
