Immigration Battle: Protection or Profiling? Join the Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Tonight on 360°, inside the battle over the toughest immigration law in the U.S. that could be signed in Arizona this weekend. Is it protection or profiling? We're keeping them honest. Plus, actor Dennis Quaid's mission to prevent medical mistakes after he nearly lost his twins.

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

I don't understand why someone would be upset to answer questions or produce an ID/documents if he/she is here legally. If you have nothing to hide then you should be happy to provide the appropriate documents. There are many illegal immigrants here in the US and stricter laws need to be put in place to control the issue. Anyone who cries about racial profiling needs to lighten up. People are too sensitive these days.

@ starr,,, It's hard for some people to know all the education that goes with being a nurse. I admire the field you were in. I tried so hard for many years But for economic reasons I had to let it go. You do have to stay sharp all the time.

The Muslim 'religion' of peace would cause violence if South Park didn't censor its bear character! That must be a eye opener to some.

what happened to dennis quaids babies is awfull and should not have. ive worked in health care for 20yrs. and ive seen alot of accidents occure the reason is not enough money. over worked under paid not enough education not enough staff no benifits. if he wants to blame someone for what happened to his children blame the government its hard to get 100% when your only given 10. im glad the babies are doing well.

South Park is fun and irreverent. I do not think they are aimed at attacking, but rather arguing. Sometimes South Park really exaggerated, but I love it!

Medical errors have been researched. Hospitals need to standardize processes. Six sigma methodology is an excellent tool to reduce and/or eliminate medical errors. Federal government should get involved in this. Hospials have not been able too police themselves and change their systems. Even accreditation agency has not been that very efective in making changes.

Ugh! I hate stories like this. He seems guilty. I feel badly for the children. Also, if they really wanted to work on their marriage, why did they bring the kids with them? They were privy to the fighting. So sad.

selling or revealing someone's emails or other personal correspondence or personal information indeed requires the word "friend" to be in double quotes and laden with heavy sarcasm. that is the kind of friend no one needs.

@Nancy, thank you for your comments.

Any patient today needs to be their own advocate, or have someone who can advocate for them.

I have a number of medication allergies. Twice, while in hospital, nurses tried to give me a medication that could kill me.

It is very important that patients constantly remind medical people of their allergies, diagnosis, etc. Question everything to make sure it is appropriate for You.

Most nurses are not paid well and work 12 hour shifts plus, as required by employers. I know some doctors work 20 hour days. No one can keep up a safe standard with these kind of hours doing any kind of job, even news casting. But to require life caring and life saving people to work such hours, so profits can grow, is ludicrest.
Yet the government says it has the answers. It hasn't fixed this problem. So yes, even babies are at risk.

I am a nurse and the Keystone ICU project from John Hopkins University Hospital started after a child died from a medical error. Now there are many new safety rules that 75% of US hospitals now follow. We ,as health care professionals, attempt to do everything within our power not to make errors but we are only human. When our staffing is so short and we are working long hours for many days in a row, errors are more likely to occur despite the systems approach. Thank God the Quaid's twins are Ok.

Also, as an RN, if you have a med order from a doctor that seems inappropriate to the patient's weight, age, medical history, etc., it is Your (RN's) responsibility to re-check with the doctor to make sure that medication order is correct.

If a question on the medication remains, the RN may refuse to give the medication and contact the nursing supervisor.

RN's who make medication errors based on a doctor's inappropriate medication order, is named 1st in any resulting litigation as we are educated to know better.

That comment from Quaid was really scary. "never be in a hopital alone". Presumably one needs a lawyer and a private physician to protect one from private health care. What about just doing things properly and prosecuting the pharmaceutical companies?

there are a few things i can't get enough of, and this vid of the sharks is one of them. i am absolutely fascinated with sharks – they are just pure raw power running on instinct, but are so highly intelligent.

Speaking of mistakes the other day my pharmacist was asking why I was allergic to penicillin because apparently it was on my file but they didn't know how it got there. I told him I wasn't allergic to pencillin I am allergic to another antibiotic but it was funny/weird/disturbing to think that someone at the pharmacy got it wrong!

That has to be dangerous to be close enough to the oil rig to shoot water at the fire. Looks like the oil on the water could ignite.

I hope they can find the 11 people still missing. I read there's a probability that they are out there in the gulf. How is that search proceeding?

    Good evening Joe Johns.
