Tonight on 360°, keeping them honest. The 'Birthers' are back and this time legislators are listening.
Arizona passes a bill demanding presidential candidates produce a birth certificate. Five other states are working on similar measures. Tonight, hear directly from one of the Arizona lawmakers who voted for the bill.
Plus, new developments in the murder of a principal and more.

Here are some of them:
1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)
Anderson Cooper goes beyond the headlines to tell stories from many points of view, so you can make up your own mind about the news. Tune in weeknights at 8 and 10 ET on CNN.

Anderson. Hard core questions tonight! Thank you. I just moved to az last year. These birthers are whack jobs.
Anderson today im returning back to watching ur show, u have given me a reason to wanna watch your show again. What u did is keep him honest, and u did it, bravo, im watching you now and will keep watching.
@Emily, i agree with you on All of your posts so far.
What is wrong with these "birthers"? We don't have enough problems both in this country and in the world that we need to be distracted by this conspiracy theory?
I want to pay attention to more pressing problems.
This person that Anderson is interviewing seems slippery. It wasn't an issue when Pres. Bush was Pres., but it Is an issue about Pres. Obama? Why?
Go Andy Watching you now. Glad you grilled him.
Oregonians would laugh a birther politican in their State or Federal office out of office.
What did PT Barnum say?
“There's a sucker born every minute”
“More persons, on the whole, are humbugged by believing in nothing, than by believing too much”
So Arizonans will then NOT believe most of what is taught in school – that the Earth is round surrounded in a universe of stars and other matters because they have not been to space to verify it.
And, no. NO state has authority to place their own restrictions on federal elections. By the way, there is nothing in the Constitution that states that Senators or Representatives live in the region they represent.
Get'em Anderson....enough is enough. Many people in certain offices could have put this issue to rest instead by direct or indirect actions they allowed this 'Birther" garbage to persist. Thank You Anderson for making them more obvious!!
Anderson,
Hi! It's great to see you on tonight.
Though the birth certificate bill is not a terrible idea, it seems to result more from a grudge against Pres. Obama's success at being elected President than anything else. I'm not necessarily against the bill if a state chooses to pass it, but a Presidential candidate's place of birth being the United States is a given and always has been.
Thank you Anderson for calling out Mr. Ash on his comments!
You just voiced exactly what I was thinking!
Go get em Anderson. Tell it like it is.
This man and others like him will never own up to the truth because they have political motives. They question because he is black – plain and simple.
Great interview Anderson. You're asking the right questions
I don't see the harm in showing your birth certificate in order to run for office. It should have been done a looooong time ago.
A focus on where President Obama was born, come on, whether you support him or not...you can build a better argument or debate against him than this.
Is it not true that no matter where Obama might have been born, because his mother was an American citizen he is an American citizen?
Some "Leader" Anderson...
Go get him Anderson!
Shocking! This is shocking! I can´t believe I am listening to this man! It is maddening!
Other than the birth certificate, is there any OTHER written evidence about this issue?
sorry for the typo.." keeping it honest, AC"..
who is this guest? seems to me that he wants air time.
Way to keep him honest Anderson!!!
This is ridiculous , Why did this suddenly become an issue with the election of Barack Obama? Anderson hold this mans feet to the fire.
This guy is an embarrassment to his political party and our country. Don't we have bigger problems to deal with?
No one asked George Bush for proof .
This bill isn't racist, just dumb.
So why hasn't any other presidents had things like this come up? It's another racist issue
Hello Anderson. Hi Everyone!
Only a generic birth award has been presented .
The Republican leaders in Arizona and Texas are really out of touch with the reality of the moment. No amount of 'proof' is going to convince these birthers, time to turn the page.
The moon's NOT made outta cheese???!!! Awwww maaaan! =0)
You had a survey asking if you believe Barack Obama was born in this country or another. I wanted to see an option I would have selected, "Do you care if he was born in another country." With the problems in this country, who has time to worry about where he was born?
that's right, AC..Kepping it honest....
Anderson is doing a GREAT job with this interview!!
@Sara Asif: "Howcome this legislation was not offered up before for other presidents?"
Good question! There are also people that believe that there are UFO landing in Texas of all States...
Obviously President elect Obama was totally vetted and qualified prior to his being sworn in by US Supreme Court Jurist Roberts.
I doesn't sound like this guy really believes President Obama is a US citizen. Seriously people need to get over it.
well, would that make it "retroactive" then for everyone who served in the past?
it would be a real shocker if some historical well-known leader didn't have a birth certificate as proof (or worse yet, was not a legally born citizen).
Good evening everyone. It's good to be here with all of you tonight. More birther controversy?? I don't get it. It's such a silly distraction from our serious problems that need our attention. What a very silly way to perpetuate more division.
I think it is ridiculous that they are wasting everyone's time and money trying to prove something that is not true. It's a no wonder everyone is complaining about the country having no money, people are wasting our money on things like this
