Police searching for a missing Ohio mother have released surveillance video showing the woman with an unknown man. Authorities said Tiffany Tehan, 31, who never returned from shopping Saturday, was seen several times during March and April with the unidentified male companion at a local convenience store.
“The male subject is not known to Tiffany’s family and friends, said the Xenia Police Department in a statement released today. Investigators have labeled him a person of interest. Investigators said he is “known to drive a late model red Volkswagen beetle and sometimes has a German Shepherd dog inside the vehicle.”
Captain Scott Anger, of the Xenia Police Department, told CNN, the video suggests Tehan was familiar with the male companion.
“Those pictures would indicate that they know each and that they been seen on more than one occasion and the information that we received is that they’ve been seen at that location on multiple occasions," Capt. Anger said.
Tehan, who is married and has a one-year-old daughter, disappeared on Saturday morning after leaving the family’s home to go shopping for the day.
The Ford Explorer she was driving was found abandoned and with a flat tire early Sunday near a skate park in nearby Kettering, Ohio, police said.
“Her being gone is totally out of character by everybody’s account,” Capt. Scott Anger of the Xenia Police told CNN. “These are unusual circumstances and we do have some concerns for her safety.”
Authorities have classified the investigation as suspicious and won’t rule out the possibility that Tehan is in danger.
“Right now family and friends have concerns that there could be some type of foul play,” Capt. Anger said, “because nobody has any other explanation.
The Patterson Park Church, where Tehan and her husband are members, has been leading a volunteer search effort for the missing woman. “We’ve actually been sending out people with flyers in the area in which she was last seen,” said Pastor Joe Godwin. “we probably printed somewhere about the neighborhood of 4,000 flyers.”
Godwin said Tehan attends a church class for married couples and is the daughter of a pastor. “We as a church obviously are very concerned for one of our own family members,” he said, “it’s hit very close to home.”
