A woman who went shopping Saturday morning never returned home and has been classified as missing, authorities in Ohio said.

Tiffany Tehan, 31, disappeared after telling family and friends she was going to several garage sales, according to the Xenia Police. The Ford Explorer she was driving was found abandoned and with a flat tire early Sunday near a skate park in nearby Kettering, Ohio, police said.

“Her being gone is totally out of character by everybody’s account,” Capt. Scott Anger of the Xenia Police told CNN. “These are unusual circumstances and we do have some concerns for her safety.”

Authorities have classified the investigation as suspicious and won’t rule out the possibility that Tehan, a mother of a 1-year-old child, is in danger.

“Right now family and friends have concerns that there could be some type of foul play,” Capt. Anger said, “because nobody has any other explanation.

Tehan, who works for an insurance company, left her home Saturday morning to do some shopping and look at garage sales, police said.

By 9 p.m., she had not come home and concerned family members contacted the police who took a missing persons report.

Her Ford Explorer was found approximately 12 hours later. Police officers have canvassed the park area and volunteers have given out flyers, Capt. Anger said.

He also said Tehan has no history of medical conditions.

“We’re following up on different leads, talking to witnesses, family, going back everything we’ve done already,” he told CNN.

“We’re just trying to do everything possible in these first hours, first couple of days to try and make sure we can recovery Tiffany hopefully safely, and that’s our goal and find out the truth.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Xenia Police at 937-372-9901.

Thank you for covering this story. This happens way too often. I live in Dayton, OH, and often frequent the shopping area, The Greene, where she was reported missing. We are praying for a good result and hope you will keep this story on the news until it is resolved.
