Tonight on 360°, keeping them honest. Is the effort to rein in Wall Street greed coming undone because of raw politics? Plus, the latest on the deadly earthquake in China and more.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

"Tea Party Politics" now seems like an oxymoron to me with Sarah Palin there.

I am so tired of hearing the republican and the tea party and their negativity. It shows that they are not willing to cooperate with anyone in D.C

I did not understand a word of what Palin was saying?

As usual, Congress set standards for business regarding capital, cash on hand, on and on which they say are necessary to keep businesses from failing and dragging down the economy but they won't follow the same recommendations for the biggest business in the the USA...the US government.

Scott Brown was smart to steer clear of Palin.

I live 15 minutes north of Boston.... wish I went today. Would have been really interesting!

Good evening Anderson, Isabel, Emily, Starr, Megan, everyone. The quake in China looks devastating. Thankfully it wasn't near major centers of population. Hopefully the airport, near Jiegu? is up and receiving flights very soon?

How would Republicans change Sen. Dodd's legislation?

This guy just said that because the bill has money to use during liquidation of banks, that is money for bailout.s. He is equating liquidation with bailouts when they are almost exactly the opposite.
What a disgrace. These things are complex enough without the lies.

This analysis of the verity of the spin is critical in these dissembling times. Please continue and expand this segment of keeping them honest. We need more objective truth in reporting rather than just presenting competing spins.

@Starr, I agree but they dont want People to succeed period, so all they want to say is "NO"

The Republicans need to HELP along with the Dem's to protect this country from any further damage from Wall St.

All they seem to want to do, is Criticize and do nothing but create gridlock in the Senate (primarily).

Do they really beleive that this kind of behavior is a "winning" stategy for 2010??

I am sitting watching Alex Castellanos lie about the Wall Street reform bill. These idiots have no shame. Do they really think Americans are stupid enough not so see that they are tools of the Wall Street elite? Disgusting.

All this talk of regulation is completely avoiding the problem...we need fundamental reform that simplifies banking. Banking produces no tangible value to society and should operate simply to support those that do create value. Reform NOT regulation.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:13 pm |
  14. Craig

Is there a reason the FDIC can't liquidate these banking institutions like the do so many other banks?

    April 14, 2010 at 10:13 pm |
  15. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

@Starr, "I feel that the BIGgest problem we have, is allowing companys to become "too big to fail"

I agree, sometimes you have to let them fail.

  16. Gloria, Brooklyn, NY

I am all for the Wall Street Reforms if it can do any good for our economy, so the banks may keep their hands out of the taxpayers pockets!

I guess it's pretty obvious who's lying. McConnell is protecting his rich Wall Street friends. To call it the Party of Treason is not overstating things. This bill is designed to protect the PEOPLE, and that is not what that party ever wants. If you let a panic develop over the crashing of some huge bank, we will all be very, very sorry. Castellanos is just another gooper shill. He is, of course, lying.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  18. gail

I meant Mitch McConnell is lying.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  19. gail

Mitch McConnell is lying? Also if it's a pro Wall Street Bill then why do they oppose it. Republicans are just fundamentally dishonest on this bill.

I am so tired of some Republicans misrepresenting anything that any Dem tries to establish and pass.

Chris Dodd is trying very hard to really do something about financial reform. This will be his legacy as he is leaving the Senate and was right in the middle of the last failure.

I feel that the BIGgest problem we have, is allowing companys to become "too big to fail". EX: BOA took TARP funds and bought Countrywide and another company. Now, They are HUge! Probably "too big to fail".

We really, really need to have financial reform! the Rep's need to help formulate a good bill that will really regulate Wall Street!

Nancy-I agree. It seems to be easier to deal with natural disasters emotionally rather than Human made disasters.

Not all talking points are bad, thank you for clarifying that these talking points are false.

I will tell you right now, If the republicans stand with wall street , they will not take back the house.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:08 pm |
  25. Heather - Spokane, WA

I think the reason why all of these earthquakes are being reported like they are now is because they are all over the 6.5 range and the bigger they are, the more damage and deaths there are

    April 14, 2010 at 10:08 pm |
  26. Sharon Hastings

I hate to comment on the obvious, but isn't everything split along party lines? It seems like even if there might be a great bill that would work and really help serious problems, there won't be any agreement in congress because of the giant chasm between the parties.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:07 pm |
  27. Gloria, Brooklyn, NY

Wild earthquakes are occuring across the continents!

    April 14, 2010 at 10:06 pm |

Yes, starr, I wonder too...how much is unusual or usual occurance and how much is hitting the news?

    April 14, 2010 at 10:06 pm |
  29. Dee

There will be no reform on Wall St. The 1% who have 90% of the money will see to that.

    April 14, 2010 at 10:05 pm |
  30. Nancy in Oregon

You know, Isabella, as much as I dread the natural calamities, I would much prefer them to man-made trauma.

This is the third deadly earthquake in one month and the fifth since the beginning of the year....something is going on and I think mother nature is trying to get her point across that she is very angry and we are experiencing some of her wrath

@Sharon Hastings, It does seem like earthquakes are increasing, but maybe there's just better coverage of earthquakes due to media and technology.
