Big help, big help. And spureltiave news of course.
I live in Bolt,W.V. and I know that when attention is withdrawn from this horrific accident, that it will happen again and again..because in non-union mines like Massy the profits outweighs safety for coal minners, who need to provide for families, payoffs and corruptions will remain in place..when you'all pack up and leave...nothing will change...but Thank you for the flash light you focused on oour families and their plight....
as a coal miner myself for 11 years ,,i feel the pain of these people and want to know if this mine is equipped with gas moniters on the cutting machine at the wall face, we had them and all machines and power shuts down when a certian level of gas is detected
If this mine had been union this may not have happened because the umwa really keeps on these big coal co.to insure the safety of their people. god bless the u.m.w.a.
please keep these families in your hearts and prayers. Im a coal miners daughter and granddaughter and I have had to live with that fear all my life. My granddad was killed in 1962 and I never got to meet him but that is a way of life for miners and their families. please pray
for them.

my uncle is in the mine, we are hoping and praying he is one of the 4 still alive. I just wish there was more information... its scary. Its heart breaking and its something that will scar the family for life. My uncle has a 2year old son, and he keeps asking for his dad, just hearing him makes me cry but also helps me to hold on to hope.
Gloria,
I'm glad that your comment was posted. The Crandall Canyon mine had an earthquake at the time of the cave in.
i feel sooo bad soe them people that died and i can't beleive the december 6,1907 how many people are dead dang gosh
Good Afternoon Anderson,
I noticed on-line that there was a 3.4 earthquake in West Virginia on Sunday, April 4, 2010. This earthquake was about 42 miles from Charleston, WV, could this earthquake have triggered the mine explosion? Also, does the company monitor for earthquakes? It seems to me that this could have something to do with the explosion.
I am praying for the miners and their family.
