What broke my heart is seeing the little boy who didn't want to return to his parents. He wanted to stay with the care-giver who provided for his needs. It only goes to show how the actions of the parents, no matter how innocent, affects a child.
It is nice to know the families are being reunited. Now it's time for the money donated to start giving these people homes.
I think it is wrong for the Haitian government to return children to parents who are homeless. They should be kept in the orphanages until the parents are on their feet and the parents should be helped in attaining this. The look on the little boys face as he walked away with his mother was heartbreaking. He was on his way to nothing.
On one hand it was great to get to see the "orphaned" children being reunited with their parents because all kids need to be with their family if at all possible. But on the other hand it is sad knowing that more than likely they are leaving a roof over their heads and three square meals for tents and maybe being able to eat twice a day if that. It's just crazy that these people are still having to live in those conditions after all of the help and money that has been sent to them. I wish those kids well and hope that they have great lives.
