Sound Off: Your comments 3/15/10

Editor's Note: Your feedback was mainly about health care reform. Those on each side of the debate are unclear about the merits of the opposing argument. Some of you praised the information on “whale sushi,” and asked for more in depth reporting on the topic. We also heard from you about the Catholic church sex abuse, and victims contacted us to share their feelings on the situation.

Doesn't President Obama see that there are other issues more important than a health reform? Why is he trying to ignore other issues? We wanted a President not a dictator. A Health Reform is a violation of our constitution, FREEDOM.

Ok, one thing i don’t understand about the health care reform is some say they don't want "free-loading" well those people would rather pay insurance comp. (through taxes) to make experimental drugs that may not work, and make a PROFIT (off tax payers) rather than give the money to save a life right now and help the people that voted for them in the first place.

Good evening, my comment is in regards to health care, it seems the focus is only on the insurance companies and not on the medical providers, 2 weeks ago I took my daughter to Inova hospital Alexandria emergency room because she had colic, it took all of 50mins, given infant Tylenol, guess what my bill was ? $1,100.00 for what I was shocked when I got the bill from my insurance company, this is a rip off, I mean all that was done was temp reading minor observation, some questions. Now I understand how this complicates the problems for the insurance companies when they are being billed ridicules amount by the clinics. Thanks.
I wrote a long comment on the top page. Good work on reporting the cover up and abuse of the Catholic Church. I would like to hear more. I think the Catholic Church should offer 12 step programs for the abuse victims and advertise the help in the church bulletins. They do not seem to want to do that. I think they are still pushing everything under the rug. The poor victims can never recover no matter how much money they are given. What a creep Fr. Chester is. And to think some parishioners still love him. Denial runs very thick among the brainwashed Catholics. How could 2 boys make up such terrible stories? Fr. Chester looks so guilty to me.

Anderson Cooper: thanks for the feature of demonstration against whale sushi! Why does the International Whaling Commission allow the Japanese to hunt hundreds of endangered whales in the Southern Ocean Whale Sanctuary? Why are nations allowed to set their own annual limits of "harvesting" whales??? Could you do an investigative report on this, please? Thanks!

I am commenting on the story about Father Chester in Chicago. I am 54 years old and when I was 9 years old, just after my mother died of cancer, I was sexually abused for the next 4 years by someone that was like a second father to me. I did not tell anyone for many many years. When I was 27 years old, I call this person and begged to know why he did what he did. He claimed that he did not do what I said and told me I did not know what I was talking about. He died of cancer a few years later, but I was crushed that he could not remember what he had done. I have come to believe that people like him have erased that memory because they could not consciously deal or accept what they had done. I KNOW no person would publicly admit to having this happen to them if it were not true. It is a scar that never goes away, but is just learned to be dealt with.

Am interested in seeing an entire story about the whale sushi. Confess I'm curious about the taste of whale flesh (cooked; and how a well-boiled blubber tastes in a pot of fish stew). Would also like to see a series on the inhumane treatment of livestock. The fact that they end up on our tables is irrelevant. Murderers are treated humanely on Death Row, though many draw the curtains on the executioner's table (am Opposed to capital punishment, but that's a different, equally riveting topic). Point is, animals have consciousness. 360 often dismisses the best stories in The Bulletin, or drops them after one night. There are so many fascinating controversial issues out there.

why haven't the American people been fed up with these insurance companies by now to my understanding they only rip off the American people collecting huge insurance payments then sitting back and determining what they will pay and what they won't when for the price of insurance they should pay the entire thing

It's amazing how the Catholic church turns a blind eye to someone like Father Chester. It's also amazing that he's been able to continue preaching the word of God. I hope and pray the two young men who have filed charges against this man don't give up. This disgusting man need to pay his dues.
