The Strange Capitol Hill Resignation: Join the Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Tonight on 360°, what led Erica Massa to step down from Congress? There's talk of cancer, ticklefights and even a shower visit from White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel. We've got the raw politics. Plus, a baby rescued from the rubble in Haiti thought to be an orphan, but now a couple says this child belongs to them.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Another terrible Toyota story. I've been scared because I have one and sometimes drive my 18 mos old granddaughter and 5 year old grandson around in their carseats. They assure me the car is okay but the fixes they have done so far don't seem to even be the problem.

@Emily, "I think that David Gergen is correct right here...Massa likely needs help and we should move on, ASAP!"

Unfortunately, this is the type of story that causes a media frenzy.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:18 pm |

Here's a man who can't make a decision as to why he is resigning. What state voted him into office?

A friend just bought an '08 Prius this weekend...I cringe.

I fully believe that the Administration will go to any means to pass some kind of health bill. I can see Emanuel leaning on people.

Should be trust our politicians? Rep Massa made mistake and he has to be a man to accept it. Too late to be sorry and welcome him to the unemployed world in The USA

Good evening Anderson, Isabel, Emily, Starr, Megan, everyone. Sorry running a bit behind tonight.

Freak show, yes maybe. I don't know the background of this situation w/ Rep Massa. Is he too rambunctious? When is a ticklefight an ethics violation.

Was he forced out? What are other democrats saying?

    March 9, 2010 at 10:15 pm |
  34. Emily

Bachelor #1 really seemed creepy for that time.
He was NOT witty, or attractive. Yuck.

Did she pick Bachelor #1 from that show?

    March 9, 2010 at 10:15 pm |
  35. charlie

I think Massa is just a weird story, probaly slimy as well.
I am sort of sorry that it seems the WH was not playing hardball.
I think they need to toughen up.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:14 pm |
  36. Nancy in Oregon

Not sure, A. Smith...it sounds like Massa already has blinders on!

    March 9, 2010 at 10:14 pm |

Congressman Massa represents much of what is wrong in Washington today, people that believe they are above the law until they are caught red handed then try to ingratiate there way with the public for some kind of acceptance. Unfortunately, he is not a side show.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:13 pm |
  41. David

Congressman Massa's non-verbal behavior indicates that he is hiding something. Could he be Gay? The allegation of groping men and hanging around the gym naked raises a red flag. I don't think the working out at the gym is helping him loose weight. Time will tell what the real story about this congressman will be.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:13 pm |
  42. Jo Ann, North Royalton, Ohio

Get ready for a barrage of "tickle" jokes. Our tax money is paying for "tickle" games.

    I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:13 pm |
  43. Heather - Spokane, WA

I thought tickle fights were only between parents and their kids or kids having them with kids, but adults........?

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  44. Mike, formerly from Syracuse

Massa may be acting bizarre, but some of his accusations about the Administration ring true.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  45. Megan Dresslar - Shoreline, WA

    @Emily,
Yes, I agree with you...... Very messy at Capitol Hill tonight.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  46. Mary Ann Denney

I think the entire Congress has lost sight of reality–Massa just one more example

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  47. A. Smith, Oregon

Bravo David Gergen, 'Media help or Mental Health, throw a sheet over former Rep. Massa and move on'. I fully agree.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  48. Danie T.

    Good evening everyone, Hi Anderson!

Politics just suck I am sick and tired of those hypocrite politicians- they should all go to Hollywood and act as that's all they do – act.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |
  49. starr, formerly known as vincent

Thank God the man is quitting his office.

I think he should know who accused him of indecent behavior though.

And then he states he "outed" himself out of the party?

Loved the panel discussion. Sideshow, perforect word for him.

    March 9, 2010 at 10:12 pm |

    @Jo Ann,

"See, both sides have their nut cases."

    This is SO True!

I think that David Gergen is correct right here...Massa likely needs help and we should move on, ASAP! 🙂
