Homicide in Hollenbeck: Join the AC360° Live Chat

[cnn-photo-caption image=http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2009/images/01/02/liveblogfinal.copy.jpg]

Tonight on 360°, we take you back to Hollenbeck, an area in L.A., where we brought you a documentary on gangs five years ago. Has the stop snitchin' code changed? Plus, we're keeping them honest in Haiti. As the rains pour down in Haiti, thousands of quake survivors still don't have tents to stay dry. Why? We'll talk to the Red Cross.

Want to know what else we're covering? Read EVENING BUZZ

Scroll down to join the live chat during the program. It's your chance to share your thoughts on tonight's headlines. Keep in mind, you have a better chance of having your comment get past our moderators if you follow our rules.

Here are some of them:

1) Keep it short (we don't have time to read a "book")
2) Don't write in ALL CAPS (there's no need to yell)
3) Use your real name (first name only is fine)
4) No links
5) Watch your language (keep it G-rated; PG at worst - and that includes $#&*)

Reform is badly needed! Premiums should be frozen, better yet reduced in a bd economy. Why should insurance companies make profits while people are going bankrupt?

Hi everyone!! Again a interesting discussion about healthcare, I really wish all the American people a healthcare system like ours. So thankful for that.
No pre existing conditions for basic healthcare.. But our government picks up the bill for a lot of the costs through AWBZ (hospitalization and care at home for the chronic ill) and that´s an ongoing discussion, they decide where to cut costs, and we get to vote every 4 year, on our 8 plus different political party's....

"President Obama has bashed banks, mortgage companies, the big 3 automakers, and now health care companies. Someone should tell him the American businesses aren't the enemy."

I disagree, BIG business has made themselves the enemy of the American Consumer. It's a compilation of greed, poor management, greed, short-term profit mentality, greed, ignorance, greed, elitism at the top, and (did I mention?) greed.

Re health care debate....... i cannot believe some americans are happy to stand by and allow fellow americans not to have access to decent healthcare...........yes you may have the best healthcare system in the world but ONLY if you can afford to pay for it............. the UK system is far better......... free healthcare for all at the point of need

WoW! That video of the tornado is terrifying!

Very glad to hear that no one was hurt.

The guys filming this are either incredibly brave or completely out of their minds. I can't determine which.

@A.Smith, health insurance is like every other business. Unless you want to replace capitalism with something else, profit will be the number one concern of ALL companies. The key is to ensure adequate competition.

Listening to this very corporate battle over huge American corporations profit margins is very much like negotiating with American corporations over their policy of paying slave wages for critical and demanding jobs in their company. Why does America think for even a moment the corrupt American Medical Industry won't fight tooth and nail against relief for its customers and lower profits in return?

The police goes by that rule . The Military goes by the same rule. Who you think we learn that rule to not snitch. White people came to this country and brought that rule with them. You live in a rich man world . Your parent were people who made clothes. Our own police dept goes by that rule.
The same people who protect us go by that rule. There made a movie about a New York City cop who Snitch on other cop was almost kill.

The speaker had a good point; you can't wait until you get sick to sign up with a preexisting condition. If everyone who could afford it was forced to get health insurance preexisting conditions could be covered and costs would come down.

Its obvious the mega Corporate Health Insurance industry wants the US Govt. to force everyone to purchase a hyper-expensive piece of paper that simply states Health Insurance for one or several thousands of dollars per month, and they'll be laughing all the way to their offshore tax haven in Belize.

we have the same problem here in the big cities of the UK. The cops, in some cases, are quite happy to see the hoods shooting each other as it saves the cops the problem of getting them off the streets

I currently have a high deductible health insurance plan. What in the current health insurance reform bills will guarantee that my doctor will charge me less for an office visit or that my local hospital will charge less for an overnight stay? I have seen nothing that addresses the actual costs of services.

About the drive by shooting in Hollenbeck. Over the past several decades many police departments built their reputations in the inter cities on fear instead of respect. You don't get much cooperation from people who fear you.

The only reform the Republican lawmakers want is for tort reform limiting lawsuits against their huge medical clients, and to railroad as many Americans to purchase Insurance policy's as possible. That piece of paper would cost healthy Americans that are not insured 1,000 dollars or more a month for a piece of paper regardless if it is ever used or not.

Why do I keep hearing the pundits and talking heads saying that Obama has been failing to resonate with the public? The Americans that are doing their job in this democracy are the ones who are paying attention and further educating ourselves on the issues. And I think that the young people have been exceptionally well informed and holding the president to his campaign promises. It's the yellers and screamers out there that are missing the boat.

The whistleblower makes the perfect case for why we needed single payor or a public option. Without this, what is to stop insurance companies from seeking more profit. That's what their executives are rewarded for or conversely lose their jobs about.

Gangs stem from fear and grow for status. Brainwashing or programing can be turned 360 degrees.

It takes a village? It takes a country. Would we prefer to see these trends grow?

I'm excited to hear what other cities are doing for these kinds of crime. coming from a city who have lost a lot of young students this year, I am always interested to hear if there are things that might work for our city. I deal with juvenile teens who are gang members, in fact we have four rival gangs in our unit., imagine what that's like...but we continue to try to give them insight on their behaviors and MAYBE they'll do somethign productive. The reality is once you're IN, there is no easy way out- either you die or badly beaten up. BUT one can try to get education while in a gang and in return, the gang will not bother you, in fact they give you a little bit more respect.

In my city there is a program to protect witnesses, but people do not trust it.
We must have a protection program and that the people believe it.
