Starting tonight at 7 p.m. ET join us here for the AC360° Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, the debate over Best Supporting Kardashian…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
What makes me qualified to lead this live blog? Well, I once worked at a video store/tanning parlor. And I own Fletch on VHS.

What is the beef b/w George Clooney and Alec Baldwin?? Did you see the glares...I mean very un-happy glares that Clooney was giving Alec during the opening skit? Each time the camera showed Clooney it was like he was wishing death upon Alec??? What was all that about? Do they not like each other?

Knew up would win....watched it with my Southern (another language) sister and husband (Spanish speaking Argentinian) and we loved it as if we all were speaking the same language.
Jack, I would say that there has been a cross-over between television and film at the Oscars for many years–Jon Stewart never made a bigger splash in movies than NPH has, yet he has *hosted* the ceremony twice. Alec Baldwin's not exactly a giant film star, either. Tina Fey is presenting, and the same goes for her. There are just more appealing people in television right now.
I don't think it's fair to say that someone who has hosted several major awards shows and earned Tony and Emmy nominations is there merely to pander to younger viewers when there are talentless people there like Miley Cyrus and Nicole Richie who seriously have no other reason to be there; plus I think NPH appeals to people in our parents' generation as well.
Gale, you and I have the same stats! I want Gabby to win but I doubt it!

I'm 3 for 3. Still predicting wins for Bullock, Bridges, MoNique, Bigelow and The Hurt Locker.
These people are living out their dreams win or lose. I hope to be in their position one day soon. So far all the winners deserved their win. Sandra for best actress and Mo'Nique for best supporting actress.
