AC360° Producer/Writer
Starting tonight at 7 p.m. ET join us here for the AC360° Academy Awards Live Blog. The winners, the losers, the debate over Best Supporting Kardashian…we’ve got your running commentary. And sure, considering all that’s going on in the world, the Oscars aren’t hugely important. But if you’re looking to get away from the bleak news-of-the-day for a few hours, then this blog is the place for you.
We should also point out that we’re not encouraging you to change the channel from CNN, but if you’re going to watch the Oscars anyway, you might as well watch them with us.
What makes me qualified to lead this live blog? Well, I once worked at a video store/tanning parlor. And I own Fletch on VHS.
If you would like to participate in our Live Blog (and we hope you do) please follow our rules.
Here are some of them:
1) Please keep your comments short
2) Don’t write in ALL CAPS (we don’t like screaming)
3) No links
4) Use your real name
Please note that due to volume we may not be able to post all comments.

jack–you are hilarious!!!
Not a fan of JLo-her dress is pretty–don't like her. SJP–love, love , love her–she could wear a sack and look good Tonight's dress reminds me of something Audrey Hepburn would wear
I love Jeff Bridges' voice. I want him to record my outgoing voicemail. If Kathleen Turner is unavailable.
"It's me, but dramatic and different. too." –Miley
how much longer for this ABC red carpet coverage? I'm about to throw up!
Wow! They have accounting firms carrying the enevelopes! Now thats RICH!
Jack-how is your co-host Sammy doing?
Maggie G's dress looks like a big Hawaiian shirt...terrible!
The nerds with the ballots always crack me up.
2 words.. Sandra Bullock! Would it be too cool if they include a surprise exchange between her and Betty White tonight..
I guess my picks for best dressed are Tom Ford and Sandra Bullock. Because I'm a fashion expert. Just ask my tube socks.
did anyone see Pitt and Jolie walk the red carpet? might have missed it
where the heck are Dustin Hoffman and Angelica Huston...Gene Hackman, Al Pacino.... paging real movie stars, real movie stars to the red carpet, please.
Jack, your age is showing.
@Jack Gray ..I'm embarrassed I didn't know that she was wearing vintage. The hair really went with it. Wasn't Jennifer Lopez wearing vintage also? The good witch of the East. Meryl Streep looked better this year than in previous years - less matronly.
Why did ABC have to do any red carpet coverage? Don't they "own" E!? You would think that they could get some more "speeches" in if they cut out 1/2 hour of the red carpet. I am just ready to move on now.
I must disagree from a fashion standpoint Jlo rocks it she looks amazing SJP looks like she tried to match her skin colour with Oscar, the dress and makeup is not good
Anyone else notice how no one seems to want to approach James Cameron and James Cameron does not approach anyone else?
I am convinced that Tom Ford can make even the dorkiest man look untouchable. So beautiful.
Stacys unite! Very cool Stacy from St. Louis!
SJP is a doll face! And so is her husband, Ferris Beuler! ;P
Anyone ever think Woody Harrelson would become part of the old guard?
Christopher Plummer is my favorite one of movie Sound of Music! He is great man I have seen his song! 🙂 I agree, Jack.
SJP has a very pretty dress on, but i guess you have to live up to your legacy...
I love Sarah Jessica Parker. As charming as they come.
I like JLo's dress, but it's very voluminous.I bet the person sitting next to JLo all night will be like 'Hey ,get your dress outa my face!'
Jack Gray, you are killing me! I do the same thing with Chris Plummer! Wish I could see it. Sandra Bullock's dress – gorgeous. Helen Mirren looks fabulous.
Hi Meghan!!!!
I see the fold-over flap on the top of the bodice is very popular this season.
Jennifer Lopez always ends up at the Oscars and fortunately for us it's never for her acting.
ugh, Jennifer Lopez? No. No. No. A thousand times – no.
that Sheree girl asking George Clooney about not being able to commit to anyone while he's girlfriend is beside him was real tacky.
@Stacy from NJ: I'd like to see it win as well. Oh, the Stacys are united!
Wait... Morgan Freeman's daughter's name is Morgana? I think he might be the real king of the world.
@Jack,
I do love best chocolate!!!! Yes! I think so, Oscars love it.
Who is that blonde woman doing interviews on the red carpet for ABC? She's awful. Jack, why aren't you there?
@Kathy He is the editor for Entertainment Weekly. Don't know what they were smoking when they decided a print media person should be a red carpet interviewer. He's not aweful, but does seem a bit out of place.
FYI... the Oscar statues are made in Chicago!
Living vicariously on the red carpet through your blog Anderson, while ABC is not broadcasting on my Cablevision service. I agree with Jack Gray, CNN. Hurt Locker was more documentary and sorry is it just me or are there others who can't understand what they are saying in the the film?
I haven't read the Recikoff piece (I will now) but I've read a lot of comments from people who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan and they liked it. They said their were three scenes that were unrealistic (mostly b/c they'd have more men covering a location than the three bomb guys) but they felt it captured the emotion and daily life. I'm not saying they are right–I'm just saying it is another perspective.
every time I see Christopher Plummer I break out in the chorus of Edelveiss
Its the climb Jack, its the climb!
Hey,It's Captain Von Trapp! Looking more like Captain Crunch!
Wow! Good for Christopher Plummer! You go!!! There's a real movie star for you Jack!
It amazes me how these people from E! have the nerve to speak in the name of fashion when they look like just came out of a carnival... Gray/purplish hair and a flower covered jacket.. not the best choices for a guy.. should I say, my grandmas fanciful gray hair and her couch's fabric? Really?
Matt Damon, thank you for knowing how to do your hair.
I would love for Up in the Air to win best picture. Not bloodly likely, but I loved that film.
am I the only one who's dreaming that those giant Oscars are made of chocolate?
I was thinking of the saem thing, Jack..where are the "real" actor and actresses????
Who is the dweeb guy on ABC interviewing Sandra Bullock?
So, apparently, because Adam Shankman (who I do think is quite brilliant) is producing the Oscars, every teenaged star he has worked with in the last two years (i.e. Miley) gets a free ticket to the whole night? And we get to hear them talk. Oy.
